Water for Elephants

This book just has a special place in my heart. The second time around reading it, I liked it just as much.
A bothering part of this novel is how August treats Rosie, but luckily she lands in the right hands. It is also horrifying to learn how some circus managers, such as Uncle Al, treated their hardworking and dedicated employees so poorly. This book shows the disconnect between the people in power and the real life circumstances of the working-class. This divide, unfortunately, still exists today, but this book highlighted taking matters in your own hands and fighting for what you believe is right.
The main characters, Jacob and Marlina, are charming, passionate, and overall likable. I don’t have an exact reason why, but I will always enjoy this book. 💕
