really liked it

Kinda disappointed. (view spoiler) I wanted more.
However, Warner, Kenji, and Juliette's emotional maturity almost made up for the things that lacked.

Edit after cover reveal:
WOWOWOWOWOWOW I can't believe our "Ignite Me" guess was right! Good job Shatter Me fandom.

Original:
Here's an interesting observation: I've noticed that the titles Shatter Me, Destroy Me, and Unravel Me are all referring to the manners of what Juliette does to Warner. In Destroy me Warner said: "That this girl would know exactly how to shatter me." Then he went on and said in Unravel Me: "You destroy me." In addition to that, Juliette, also in Unravel Me, related to the term when thinking about Warner: "I want to unravel him."

So....is it delusional to hope for the seemingly impossible?

“The small hand of a clock taps me at one and two, three and four, whispering hello, get up, stand up, it's time to

"Wake up," he whispers.”

Tahereh Mafi
“Why do you call her 'love'?" James asks. "I've heard you say that before, too. A lot. Are you in love with her? I think Adam's in love with her. Kenji's not in love with her, though. I already asked him."
Warner blinks at him.
"Well?" James asks.
"Well what?"
"Are you in love with her?"
"Are you in love with her?"
"What?" James blushes. "No. She's like a million years older than me."
"Would anyone else like to take over this conversation?" Warner asks, looking around the group.”

Tahereh Mafi
“I’m not sure. But there’s something about the darkness, the stillness of this hour, I think, that creates a language of its own. There’s a strange kind of freedom in the dark; a terrifying vulnerability we allow ourselves at exactly the wrong moment, tricked by the darkness into thinking it will keep our secrets. We forget that the blackness is not a blanket; we forget that the sun will soon rise. But in the moment, at least, we feel brave enough to say things we’d never say in the light.”

Tahereh Mafi
“Three forty-five-pound plates on each side of what Kenji told me is an Olympic bar, which weighs an additional forty-five pounds. I can't stop staring. I don't think that I've ever been more attracted to him in all the time I've known him."
"So this gets you going, huh?"

"I've never seen him in sweatpants before..."

"I bet you've seen him in a lot less.”

Tahereh Mafi
“I don't think you're crazy." The world is blurring away as I watch it through the window. "And I don't think that you're a psychopath. I also don't think you're a sick, twisted monster. I don't think that you're a heartless murderer, and I don't think you deserve to die, and I don't think you're pathetic. Or stupid. Or a coward. I don't think you're any of the things people have said about you.”

“I like the way I feel about myself when I'm with him." I say quietly. "Warner thinks I'm strong and smart and capable and he actually values my opinion. He makes me feel like his equal--like I can accomplish just as much as he can, and more. And if I do something incredible, he's not even surprised. He expects it. He doesn't treat me like I'm some fragile little girl who needs to be protected all the time.”

“Water that never moves." I say to him. "Its fine for a little while. You can drink from it and it'll sustain you. But if it sits too long it goes bad. It grows stale. It becomes toxic." I shake my head. "I need waves. I need waterfalls. I want rushing currents.”

“What if he just bombs everyone again?" Ian asks, breaking the silence. "Just like he did with Omega Point?"
"He won't," Warner says to him. "He's too arrogant, and this war has become personal. He'll want to toy with us. He'll want to draw this out as long as possible. He is a man who has always been fascinated by the idea of torture. This is going to be fun for him."
"Yeah, that's making me feel real good," Kenji says. "Thanks for the pep talk."
"Anytime," Warner says.”

Kaojoua I totally agree. I just finished reading Ignite Me, and although I enjoyed it a lot more than the previous two, I felt it lacking in action and the end was very abrupt. Anderson was built up to be this big bad evil guy, and although he was, he didn't seem that threatening in those moments where Juliette was kicking his butt. And there are definitely a lot of questions that need to be answered as to how the world is going to be run and the response to Juliette and her small band of rebels taking over.

Cookie I love the series to death, but yes, I agree with the points that you brought up. I just can't imagine having a 17 year-old girl running the entire continent. That's not only idiotic, but implausible. Tahereh clearly knows her way better around the relationships and the romance departments. Action-wise... Not so much.

Maritza Completely agree! The ending was very abrupt and I felt it lacking as well...She left us with new questions unanswered! But I still liked the book! Warner! (swoon)

Julieanna Wow haha I didn't even notice! So throughout the story there was always a hidden intent about the real romance. Well I'm glad for it because their love story is so beautiful and passionate and angry and just so hard. Because they are are hes Romeo to her Juliet ;) but for them they well come to be together alive and fight to change everything ever known! Gosh I love them!!

message 355: by Kayla (new)

Kayla M I'm also wondering why in Shatter Me, Warner was able to kiss her

Rebekah Kayla wrote: "I'm also wondering why in Shatter Me, Warner was able to kiss her"

He's always had that power, just like Adam's always been able to "turn her off". Warner just thought he was 'special like Kent' but now he realizes that it's an ability.

message 357: by Sabrina (new)

Sabrina Wilcox I don't understand how anyone can like Warner, she a creepy stalker and he invaded her privacy by reading her journal. Juliette is one of the worst main characters ever & she's a total idiot if she would be with Warner. gross.

message 358: by Cookie (new) - added it

Cookie Lol ok if that's how you see it. Adam is a hot headed idiot who can't form a coherent thought beyond "shit" or "goddamn." He belittled Juliette, called her stupid, and was an ugly person to deal with in general. Warner never pretended he was anything other than what he showed us. Yeah, he invaded her privacy. So? Does privacy really signify in a world ravaged by destruction and governed by military protocols? I don't think so. Warner respects Juliette, loves her for who she is, and he was always the only one who put 100% faith in her. They grow together and mend each other where no one else could. Why would she be with Adam when she could have Warner, a man who is not at all perfect, but is just he right fit for her? Lol

message 359: by ďܱ԰첹 (new)

ďܱ԰첹 Štiavnická Hi. I have one question...in finally part books series will BE warner and juliette together?????pleeeees tell Me that somenone....

Rebekah Wait have you not read Ignite Me?

message 361: by Sarah (new) - added it

Sarah I agree i needed more too

message 362: by Ccvon (new)

Ccvon I am actually disappointed about this book. The ending just left us hanging - it was definitely hanger cliff worthy. The plot is basically made up of a love triangle, some 'high school drama',and action scenes that were unfortunately inadequate. The whole series,in my opinion, didn't live up to dystopian at all.
The series in general is all about a girl finding herself more then anything else which is not a horrendous thing, but I really expected more from a dystopian series.

On the other hand, I must congratulate the author on the way she wrote the series, it was phenomenal indeed. My favorite thing about this book/series is the way she reflected Juliette's emotions though the actual words! I loved the repetition of the words and phrases because it expressed how her intense panicking, melancholy, or triumph would just explode within her.

Cookie Ccvon wrote: "I am actually disappointed about this book. The ending just left us hanging - it was definitely hanger cliff worthy. The plot is basically made up of a love triangle, some 'high school drama',and act..."

I agree with you. I think the dystopian element didn't add to anything this book was trying to convey (perhaps maybe the basic survivalist conditions could help explore human nature more explicitly, like in the case of warner). The books premise would fit in with the contemporary genre just fine.

OneGreen, OneGold I agree with you but I like the third book was better then the second book. Also the author should continue this series to answer the unanswered questions we still have.

Lemme.judge.the.book I'm just mad that it ended. Couldn't the author have written another book. I still have a million questions like: Why is Adam all of a sudden treating Juliet as if she was nothing? What happened to Adam and Juliet's love for each other? What happens after the last page of Ignite me?
I honestly I am pleased that Warner and Juliet end up together but the author should have given more information about Adam's transformation.

message 366: by Samm (new) - rated it 4 stars

Samm Chang You took the words right out of my mouth

message 367: by Blake (new) - rated it 5 stars

Blake Masters A very good series and I liked the trilogy from the intimate moments to the fighting scenes, but the drama I felt went a little too long. I am pleased that Warner ended up with Juliette. He respected her in every way possible. I liked all the characters. The author did a phenomenal job with Juliette's thoughts and feelings. The author did a great job at better development. I laughed a lot and I enjoy the series overall. I'm look forward to another series that continues the series.

message 368: by Quinn (new) - rated it 3 stars

Quinn Not to mention it ended at the part of the story in which it was finally getting a bit more interesting

Rachel Jude -HighLadyOfTheNightCourt- Uh did anyone else realize Warner took her journal in the beginning and never gave it back and they never even mentioned it again lol

Rachel Jude -HighLadyOfTheNightCourt- AND did anyone else realize that the crossed out text is common in unravel me, not as common in ignite me, and then disappears all together in ignite me to represent character development. I thought that was pretty clever

message 371: by Nadia (new) - rated it 5 stars

Nadia You r correct about the death of Anderson I was hoping for an epic battle but I am glad about there emotional growth because Juliette wallowed a lot about what happend to her that’s why I liked Warner and Juliette’s relationship so much he helped her to become stronger and to stop her self pity don’t get me wrong I hated him at first but then it told the full story about what happens and you realize he’s not so bad anyway I enjoyed the book but would have preferred better action scenes **fingers crossed for the next book**

message 372: by Maria (new)

Maria Garcia I was very disapointed with this book. In my opinion Juliette should be with Adam, not with Warner.Anderson dies too fast and I don't understand Adam's transformation

GracieJames21 I 100% agree. Anderson died to quickly. It didn't seem realistic. The war seemed rushed and, tbh, kinda sloppy. I don't understand how they all survived. Kinda tired of this....

message 374: by Ella (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ella I think you make a valid opinion

message 375: by Ella (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ella I think this was just a great book

message 376: by Laura (new) - rated it 4 stars

Laura While I do agree that he action scenes were a bit rushed, I feel there is a reason behind it. Anderson was not an extraordinary human being, he didn't posses any supernatural powers, he was just a man who instilled fear in everyone. I think the message of this book is that it didn't take much to defeat Anderson (taking out the whole freakishly strong idea), it only took bravery and courage, which I think is a beautiful message.

message 377: by Deepti (new) - rated it 5 stars

Deepti Waghmare I feel she is going to end up with Warner only at last

message 378: by salwa (new) - rated it 5 stars

salwa If only you knew that Anderson did not die fast 😤

worood 💌 wait for the next books cuz it’ll explain anderson’s death and oh wow

message 380: by Emily (new) - rated it 5 stars

Emily Mclaren just wait for the next book (relating to Anderson) its soooooo good

message 381: by Zenina (new) - rated it 5 stars

Zenina OMG I HOPE YOU ALREADY READ THE REST OF THE SERIES BY THE TIME☺️☺️

message 382: by Luna (new) - rated it 5 stars

Luna zurzolo I 100% agree. Applies also in shatter and unravel me

Amaryllis_book_reviews Omg yes! I'm so happy some one else noticed too about the titles of the books and how they are used inside the plot to refer on Warner's and Juliette's relationship!

message 384: by Madi (new) - rated it 5 stars

Madi Baldwin Okay you’re so right on the action scenes

message 385: by Harper (new)

Harper McRee too long didn’t read

Aaronwarner'S Wife after reading the part where you said anderson died too quickly i legit went like: it might be crazy what i'm about to sayyyyyy

message 387: by Basma (new) - rated it 5 stars

Basma I won't see a man like Aaron in my real life, I think, but he is the standard and this is considered the best part for me now
