3 stars. This was a ride. The Gone World has a super cool premise and some really wild ideas around time travel and alternate futures that kept me curious enough to finish. I liked the mood too: kind of dark and eerie without being over the top. There were a few moments that genuinely gave me chills.

That said, I think it bit off more than it could chew. The plot starts to spiral in so many directions, and by the end, it felt a bit tangled for the sake of being clever. Some of the emotional moments didn’t land as hard as they could’ve because the characters didn’t feel fully grounded. Still, not a bad read. Just not one I’d rush to recommend.
