I wouldn't class it as historical fiction. It's set between 1938 and about 1953, a love story to do with the cold war, biological warfare & spies. But maybe I'm wrong.....

Having just read The Children's Book I'd class that as historical fiction/family saga. Yes, I'm sure it can be hard to decide genre, especially if you haven't read it.

The Tim Winton Award for Young Writers turns 21 this year. Each year school students aged 5 - 18 years in Western Australia are invited to submit a story and take part in the award. 'Hatched' is an anthology of previous winners with art by Shaun Tan, to be published by Fremantle Press for release 01/08/2013.
