Rules for the Fall/Winter Task Challenge:

1. This challenge will start September 15, 2012 (12:01 am EST) and will end at 11:59 pm on March 31, 2013.

2. All books read during the challenge dates, September through March, can count towards tasks. So, if you join in November, anything you read that FITS a task can count towards the challenge as long as you read it AFTER September 15th. If you are less than half way through a book BEFORE the challenge starts, you can use it for the challenge. If you are over the halfway point, you cannot use it for the challenge.

3. Books can only be used for one category.

4. Re-reads are fine, except where stated otherwise.

5. All books should be over 150 pages unless otherwise stated. If you read a book that is not quite 150 pages, please make sure that it for a lower point task and you are only able to read an "under 150 pages book" once. Please get an "ok" from us before you try and count an "under 150 pages book" for a task.

6. To claim your points, you must post completed tasks in the "Leaderboard & Completed Tasks" thread. Please include the title, author, the task it was for, and your total number of points to date. You can update your task list but we will not be checking those for your points. That is just for your records only.

7. If you have any doubts as to whether a book fits a particular challenge, please feel free to ask.

8. Above all, remember this challenge is supposed to be FUN, a good way to tackle some of your TBR list, and to expand your horizons.

9. Those that finish/win the challenge will be able to pick a task for the Spring/Summer Challenge 2013.

10. For task 10.4: There will be a list posted towards the top in the Fall/Winter 2012-2013: Important Announcements and Updates to choose from.

11. Most Important: HAVE FUN!

5 points:

1. Start at the Beginning: Read whatever book you have started (if you aren’t more than 50 pages in) or put down whatever book you start next (if you are over page 50 in your current read). Anything goes as long as it is over the 150 pages.

2. Labor Day Fashion Police: Reach a book with White in the Title, the Author’s name or were the person on the cover is wearing white.

3. Dress-Up: Not Just for Kids Anymore: Read a book that has a character on the cover that could be a Halloween Costume.

4. Fall Equinox: Read a book with a fall themed cover or set during the Fall.

5. A'phabet Day AKA No "L" Day: Read a book where neither the title nor the author's name have an L.

(The next three are specific genres that some people probably never read, so that is why I made them 5 pt tasks. Hopefully everyone can find something they would like to read for them.)

6. How Do You Know? Read a biography/autobiography about someone you are not familiar with.

7. Need a Winter Pick Me Up: Read a self help book.

8. National Comic Book Day: Read a graphic novel.

Sorry and thanks in advance!

Hey Nitzan! Welcome to the challenge!

There are four different threads that we use during the challenge. This is the thread where you post which books you'd like to read for the tasks. You can change your mind anytime you want--the list isn't permanent.

When you finish a task, you post the book you read in the Leader Board and Completed Tasks thread so that you can claim your points. If you have any questions about the challenge or if you aren't sure if a book you're thinking about can count for a task, you can ask that in the Questions, Task Help and General Discussions thread. The other thread, Important Announcements and Updates is where Tami posts changes that may occur during the challenge, such as a special surprise twist where one task will change and you can read a different type of book for it, but you usually only have a week to claim the points. This is also the thread where the White Elephant list will be posted for task 10.4.

I hope that helps. Have fun!

Gail, it's just like doing an excel spreadsheet, but one that you can easily share via a link if you want. Its located under the Google Drive on your google account if you have one. You can take a look at mine or anyone else's if you want. I just keep track of the tasks, titles, page #s and points with it and let it do all the math for me on the point totals so I don't have to double check it all the time.
