* All stories must be posted using your Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ status updates or on Twitter. If you are using Twitter, please read the special instructions below. Stories posted anywhere else (such as in this group forum or in the writing section of your Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ profile) are not eligible for the contest.

* All stories must be posted before March 1, 2009. Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ staff will pick a shortlist of nominees. Everyone on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ will be invited to vote for a winner in March! The winner will receive a book gift certificate.

* To enter the contest, you must post in the ENTER THE CONTEST HERE group topic below. Your entry post must state the date and time of day you will begin your story. If you do not post in this topic, we will never know your story happened! This includes both writers posting using Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ status updates and writers using Twitter.

* Stories must not exceed a 24-hour period. For example, if the first post of your story starts on February 16, 2009 at 10 am PST, the final post of the story must appear before February 17, 2009 at 10 am PST. This doesn't mean your story must last for 24 hours. It can be only a few minutes or several hours long. It is up to you.

* Stories may use any number of status updates (from 1 to as many as you can post within 24 hours).

* The first post of each story must be:
"START STORY: read my submission for the Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ Status Update Writing Contest"
And the last post must be:
"STOP STORY: final post of my story for the Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ Status Update Writing Contest"

* The medium of storytelling is your Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ status updates, so you can tell a story about yourself, but stories do not have to be told in the first person. Feel free to tell either a fictional or nonfictional story, introduce multiple characters, plotlines, etc.

* Feel free to include both general status updates and page number updates in your story. (Maybe one of your characters is reading a book?)

SPECIAL TWITTER INSTRUCTIONS
* If you are using Twitter to tell your story, you still must officially enter the Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ contest by posting a link to your Twitter account AND your start date/time in the ENTER THE CONTEST HERE topic in this group. If you do not, we will never know your story happened!

* All Twitter story posts (from first post, all story posts, to last post) must begin with #goodreads. This will enable us to find and read your story on Twitter.

* Don't forget to synch Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ and Twitter, so your friends in both places can read your story. On Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ, select "my account" from the "hi [your name:]" dropdown list. Select the "apps" tab and enter your Twitter account info to synch up!
