Different genres, different years

General Rules

1. The Challenge begins at 12:00 A.M. local time on October 1, 2012 and ends at 11:59 P.M. local time on December 31 2012.
2. This Challenge is just for fun, so make sure you enjoy yourself and all the books you will be reading!
3. All books must be classified as Young Adult or Juvenile Fiction, unless otherwise noted in the task. If you local library classifies the book you chose as such, then the book may be included.
4. All books must be at least 100 pages long to count for any of the tasks, unless otherwise noted in the task.
5. Re-reads count, unless otherwise noted in the task.
6. Audio books and electronic books (unabridged), such as Kindle, all count for this Challenge. Page counts will be according to the Good Reads page count.

Genre/Year challenge

1. Read YA/J books from the genres listed below. You can decide which genre you would classify the book as, within reason (ie: you can get away with To Kill a Mockingbird as being a classic, multicultural, or realistic, but it's clearly not a novel in verse)
2. Each book must have been *first* published in different years.
3. You may NOT repeat genres or years until you have read a book from each of the genres listed. At that time, you may reuse whatever you like. So, if you read a fantasy written in 2002, you can't read a realistic fiction book written in 2002. And you can't read a fantasy book written in 1998. Until you do all the genres.
4. All point values will remain the same if you get to the point of reusing genres.

Genres

Graphic Novel
Short Story
Poetry Collection
Novel in Verse
Dystopian
Post-Apocalyptic or Apocalyptic
Sci-Fi (Not dystopian, apocalyptic or post-apocalyptic)

Points

1. Each correctly posted book (see below) is worth 10 points
2. If a book is a current group read, AND you post in the group read thread, 10 points
3. If the book is a former group read, AND you post in the old thread, 5 points
4. If the book meets Kellee's current monthly challenge AND you post in the current thread, 10 points
5. If the book meets Kellee's previous monthly challenge (that you have not posted in previously) AND you post in the old thread, 5 points
6. If you create or contribute to any other thread, 10 points

On Your Honor

1. I am too busy to check each post for accuracy. What you post, I'm going to believe, unless it's pretty obviously incorrect. This goes for your math, too!
2. If I do find a glaring inconsistency, I'll point it out. Please don't fix the original post (well, you can if your posting OCD demands it of you), because I'm not going to go back and check. Please repost info in a new post so I can keep moving forward instead of jumping back and forth.

Hi Brandi, I think your point total should be 10. Each book (genre and year) is worth 10 points. The only way to get 5s is if you contribute to an old group read thread or read a former monthly challenge.

Sorry if I've confused you. This is why I don't typically run these challenges!

Jenn (engelsigh) I have a question. For nonfiction, can I use my college textbook that I just finished? Drugs in American Society by Erich Goode

And for biography/autobiography does it need to be the biography of a young person? I read Beautiful Boy A Father's Journey Through His Son's Addiction by David Sheff which is about a child through young adult but told by the father.
