Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments Already planning the next live event, this one will be with Marc Nash

Now that we've had live events at various points during the week, we're wondering what's the best day of the week for the next live event to happen.

We're not doing a survey, and we're aware that things change from one week to another... But so we can gauge when's the best day, would anybody be happy to give suggestions, say what days are no-nos and maybe what day they'd prefer it to happen?

That'd be a great help, thanks in advance !

Kath | 1233 comments no real preference for me Lorraine, apart from perhaps not a day when my bloomin internet keeps kicking me off like it did during stu's *sigh*
not that i expect you can do anything about that !

oooo - and i best get reading Marc's book i spose !

and don't forget to work in YOUR preference too Lorraine - cos you do a lot of hard work :)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments Thanks Kath, we usually go by the writer's choice as I'm home every evening (yep, no social life, me), and Marc is available more or less any day, so instead of choosing at random, we'd see if there are any preferences among members.

Sorry your internet is playing up :( That sucks when it happens. I can remember on the afternoon of the first live event, my phone line went down for an hour. I don't think I panicked so much in my life lol !

Kath | 1233 comments oopsie !

yeah me too re the social life - apart from the very odd occasion (and when i am staying at my mum's lol)

my internet is randomly intermittent - though at the moment it reconnects more/less straight away. some days it is fine, others it does it loads! isp says it's the phone line, phone provider say it's my internet box - that old story, sigh! neither will do anything unless i let them in the house to test it live and i cba with that until it gets much worse!

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments Yea we've had that problem not long ago, kept going back and forth. Eventually got fed up and bought a new hub thingy, and it worked !

message 6: by Kath (new)

Kath | 1233 comments yeah - i think it is my box thing too. i should be due new stuff from isp when they upgrade their system which i think is soonish. in the mean time i am just praying it holds on lol.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments A Friday or Saturday night would be best for me. No work in the morning then.

message 8: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments I'll pray for it too Kath :)

Thanks Patti :) Live event on a friday or saturday = good excuse for a lie in the next morning. Good point :)

Katy | 2662 comments Monday and Tuesday nights don't work very well for me....

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments I have a belief that the Internet is busiest at 7pm on Sunday. I can't substantiate the claim but forums seem to be particularly active.

message 11: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments Ok, thanks Katy. Thanks for being so active during Stu's event, that really helped :)

message 12: by Marc (new)

Marc Nash (sulci) | 4313 comments I like Fridays too, but I think other GRers felt that was a going out night?

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments Saturdays seem dead

I love our live events! Even if my questions are a bit random and not very good!

message 15: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments I think Fridays drew up more people, but I can't say for sure as there are lurkers :)

I agree with Simon, not many people around on Saturdays...

Katy, your questions are fab x

I agree with that completely.

No I was just surprised at the statement, that's all.

message 20: by Katy (new)

Katy | 2662 comments Oh okay! That's fine then (: I can't do next sunday. that's all (:

message 21: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments Oh ok, no worries :)

message 22: by Philip (sarah) (new)

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments Any night is fine with me as given plenty notice I just arrange my schedule around the date! I love flexi-time working.

message 23: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments :) It's certainly got its perks Sarah !

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments Ummm, I wasn't saying you had to take the slightest bit of notice of me. Just putting in my six penneth worth.

message 25: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments Not sure I understand what you're saying... trying to work, short night, fuzzy brains and lack of chocolate... Are you saying that Sunday is worth a try?

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments Not really. You should do it when it best suits you.

message 27: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments Ok... I think the weekends have been pretty much no-nos from the start... So we'll stick to weekdays :)

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8586 comments I think the live events are great, and any day really would suit me. No social life either!

message 29: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments Okies Rosemary lol

I guess we can all say that the forum is our social life :)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I was agreeing with Simon that Sunday evenings are usually quite busy in the group.

I certainly don't expect you to fit the live events round my schedule.

This time difference is a pain in the butt.

The clocks here go back next weekend. When do they go back there?

message 31: by Philip (sarah) (new)

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments Same here Patti.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Pfft.

Was hoping for less of a time difference for a wee while.

Thanks Sarah.

message 33: by Tim (new)

Tim | 8539 comments Mondays and thursdays are drama club rehearsal nights, so mostly out as far as I'm concerned (do occasionally get a night off but it's not all that predictable). Two tuesdays a month are writers group. But other than that I'm a sad little no-life... ;)

message 34: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments Awwww Tim, sorry... about to announce the next one, and it's on a thursday :(

message 35: by E A M Harris (new)

E A M Harris | 42 comments For the ones that run late I think Friday is good. Too many people are out on Saturday.
