Are you in need of something new to read, but don't know what book to try next? Comment in this thread and we can help! I (your friendly teen librarian) can always give suggestions, but anyone can feel free to comment with recommendations.

Are you craving fantasy? Romance? Action? In your comment, just let us know what you're in the mood for. Listing a few books that you've read recently will help if you're looking for something with a similar feel/genre.

Claudia (optimal003) | 4 comments Switched by Amanda Hocking or the Watersong series (also by Amanda Hocking) are some really great books!

Don't forget that if you need reading suggestions, we have lots of great suggested reading lists here at the library that will get you started. These lists cover lots of different genres, and can be found over by the windows in the YA area.

Also, feel free to use this space to ask the group for reading suggestions! Everyone here has read lots of great titles, and this discussion thread can be a great place to brainstorm great book suggestions.

Olivia (oliviagerbing) | 6 comments You should read the Percy Jackson Series, they are so interesting and very exciting. The first book is called The Lightning Thief. You will be so surprised at what happens in this book! Anyone have a good mystery book suggestions?

Olivia, we can definitely recommend some mysteries for you! There are lots of different kinds of mysteries. I'd Tell You I Love You But Then I'd Have to Kill You by Ally Carter is set at a school for spies and has lots of adventure and intrigue. If you like historical mysteries, you might try The Girl Is Murder by Kathryn Miller Haines or Ripper by Stefan Petrucha. The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin is shelved in the Children's area, but it's a classic "whodunnit" mystery that I think has some teen appeal. If you prefer supernatural mystery, you might want to try Dead Is the New Black by Marlene Perez. If you want something more contemporary and everyday, try Getting the Girl A Guide to Private Investigation Surveillance and Cookery.

Leah | 3 comments I have read multiple reviews on a book called 13 Reasons Why, and I know it is a very heavy read (emotionally), is it a book worth reading?

13 Reasons Why is an amazing book. It is a very emotional book, though and you may have to put it down and walk away for a little while to gather your thoughts and just take a break, but I believe it is definitely worth reading.

Izzy | 1 comments Sweet Venom by Tera Lynn Childs is a good book. I personally enjoyed how the characters were completely different, yet they end up being connected in strange ways.

Anusha Talwalkar (anushat) | 4 comments I really enjoyed Frozen by Melissa de la Cruz. It gave me a lot of emotions, and I thought the plot was different than a lot of other dystopian books which made it more interesting. I've seen a number of one-star ratings on this book, but I personally thought it was amazing.

Hope | 6 comments If you are looking for a good Mystery novel, you should read I Hunt Killers by Barry Lyga. This book is full of suspense and action that makes you want to keep reading. And if you liked this book, you will love Game. Game is the second book is the series. :)
Also, if you are looking for a good fantasy book, you will like UnEnchanted by Chanda Hahn. This book adds a good twist on the fairy tails that we all know!

Animallover1234 | 1 comments I really enjoyed Into the Wild by Erin Hunter. This book has cliffhangers at the end of each chapter and at the end of the book. If you enjoyed this book, Fire and Ice is the next book. Also, there are 3 more series, The new prophecy, Power of Three, and Omen of the Stars. There are 6 books in each series. There are super editions, Manga books, and some other books shorter than super editions, but like super editions. Warrior cats are awesome!!

Alright, everyone, your librarian is looking for book suggestions. I'm trying to make a list of books for teens that don't have a lot of romance in them. Coming up with books with no romance is a lot harder to do than it sounds! If any of you can think of any great books like this, please post them here. Thanks!

Sarah | 9 comments Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater is a great fantasy book. At first I thought it was going to be like the Twilight Series with romance and werewolves, but it was actually a really enjoyable book. The end is a cliff hanger, so I'm trying to finish the series :)

Ashley (ash57999) It was definitely a challenge for me to pick out a few romance free books, and I have to say, I couldn't find many, but this is what I managed to find from my "Read" list:

And We Stay by Jenny Hubbard. I'm not sure if this one will work, because it's the aftermath of a romance gone horribly wrong. There's a school shooting, and the guy with the gun is the main character's former boyfriend. But, now Emily Beam, the main character, has been shipped off to an all girl's boarding school. You get to hear her dramatic story in flashbacks and through amazing poems. There is no ongoing romance in the book, but i'm not sure if it'll work on your list.

A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness. I don't recall there being any romance in this book, and there are fantastic illustrations!

Cracked by K.M. Walton. Another book with no romance, at least not that I remember. This book really focuses on mental illness and also bullying and bullies themselves. It's a very good, thoughtful book.

I wish I had more suggestions, I guess i'll have to take a look at that list you're making when it's finished.
