We are halfway done with Week 20! Tell us how was the book on the bottom of your reading list.

This discussion thread is solely for your progress. (Book discussions go in individual threads.)

What did you read this week?

Did you choose a book added a long time ago or a book you were not fully interested in reading?

Did you enjoy the book?

Which book is on the top of your "to read next" list?

Sara (saraboulos) Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk, and it has been on my to-read list for just a couple of weeks. I found a copy in goodwill and thought "yeah, why not get it and check it out?!" And, yeah I highly recommend everyone to read it. Here's a link to my review of the book /review/show...
And I'm planning on reading And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini

message 3: by Keri (new)

Keri What did you read this week?
Life After Lifeby Kate Atkinson

Did you choose a book added a long time ago or a book you were not fully interested in reading?
I added this book a long time ago but it was kinda pricey at the time so I kept putting it off.

Did you enjoy the book?
I have only just started but it is a little slow so far. Hoping it will pick up the pace soon!

Which book is on the top of your "to read next" list?
Thirty-Four and a Half Predicaments by Denise Grover Swank. All of the books in this series have been REALLY great so I am looking forward to seeing how the story continues.

Anastasia (anastasiaharris) | 319 comments What did you read this week?
Two Solitudes by Hugh MacLennan

Did you choose a book added a long time ago or a book you were not fully interested in reading?
I choose to read this book over a year ago. I enjoyed another book set in the Canadian past and this one was suggested to me by another book enthusiast.

Did you enjoy the book?
I am only part way through the book, and am enjoying it so far. I did not expect to from the reviews.

Which book is on the top of your "to read next" list?
Dracula by Bram Stoker, and the first Sherlock story is on the top of my list. Both are coming up soon in the challenge. :)

What did you read this week? The Borrowers

Did you choose a book added a long time ago or a book you were not fully interested in reading?
I added this one when I discovered that the Ghibli movie Arrietty (and an anime I watched when I was kid) was from this book. So, it was on my to-read since january 2013, the month I joined Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ!

Did you enjoy the book?
Hu. No. Uninteresting, flat characters, nothing really happens and I'm really not fond of long talks about furnitures. If you want a good "tiny people" story, Toby Alone is thousand times better.

Which book is on the top of your "to read next" list?
Since last Saturday, I'm in a Divergent binge reading (it's why I'm a little late here...), so the next is Allegiant.

Tanya (xallroyx21) | 55 comments What did you read this week? Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver

Did you choose a book added a long time ago or a book you were not fully interested in reading? I have had this for a long time and it was on the first page of my to-read book list.

Did you enjoy the book? I loved it! This happens a lot when I have a book for a while and hold on to it. I either love it or hate it.

Which book is on the top of your "to read next" list? Burial Rites which is for the previous week. I waited until I could get it from the library.

Sarah | 186 comments What did you read this week?
Day Shift by Charlaine Harris

Did you choose a book added a long time ago or a book you were not fully interested in reading?
I have been waiting a year to read this one. Not the longest one on my list but I really wanted to read it!

Did you enjoy the book? Yes sure did! I am a big fan of Charlaine Harris and haven't actually read a book of her's that I didn't enjoy.

Which book is on the top of your "to read next" list?
For this challenge it would be The Red Tent by Anita Diamant and for myself it is The Darkest Kiss by Keri Arthur

message 8: by Karen Michele (new)

Karen Michele Burns (klibrary) What did you read this week?

Half of a Yellow Sun

Did you choose a book added a long time ago or a book you were not fully interested in reading?

It was the book on my TBR the longest!

Did you enjoy the book?

Yes, it was a 5 star book.

Which book is on the top of your "to read next" list?

The Wasp Factory

Ed Lehman | 48 comments What did you read this week?

The Penelopiad by Margaret Atwood

Did you choose a book added a long time ago or a book you were not fully interested in reading?

I read this because it was suggested by another book club on GR...otherwise I probably would never have picked it up.

Did you enjoy the book?

No...not at all.

Which book is on the top of your "to read next" list?

Still need to read War and Peace...but leaving that to next year.

Silvia Turcios | 304 comments What did you read this week?
The Blood of Olympus by Rick Riordan

Did you choose a book added a long time ago or a book you were not fully interested in reading? A book I added a long time ago (Jun 2014)

Did you enjoy the book? Yes, a lot!

Which book is on the top of your "to read next" list? The top is The Screaming Staircase, but I can't fit it in the challenge anymore, so it'll have to wait.

Jessica | 225 comments What did you read this week?
When Crickets Cry

Did you choose a book added a long time ago or a book you were not fully interested in reading?
A little of both. It had been lent to me by my grandma a couple years back and I kept putting off reading it.

Did you enjoy the book?
Parts of it, the "twist" was really obvious from the get-go and the main guy felt a bit pretentious at times. However, the author wrote the little girl very well.

Which book is on the top of your "to read next" list?
I want to read the final book in the Unwind series, but I have no room for it in the challenge and I am too far behind.

Jean Cole (joc724) | 115 comments What did you read this week? The Night Strangers

Did you choose a book added a long time ago or a book you were not fully interested in reading? I sorted my TBR list and chose the one with the fewest stars.

Did you enjoy the book? Not really. The star ratings on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ work pretty well! It was supposed to be scary but it just wasn't. The basic plot line is pretty good I suppose but the actions -- or inactions, actually -- of the characters allow the story line to progress in a way that just wasn't believable.

Which book is on the top of your "to read next" list? I'm still plowing through this challenge but when I'm finished with this I can't wait to read The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton.

Need

Did you choose a book added a long time ago or a book you were not fully interested in reading?

I didn't choose this book at all actually. This book was given to me by my no longer best friend about six (I think) years ago and it's been sitting on my shelf that whole time. I have attempted once or twice to read it but never got past chapter one. The amount in which I don't want to read this book is astounding.

Did you enjoy the book?

I'll let you know when I get past chapter one! haha! EDIT: I read the book and though it started out screaming Twilight to me, I have to admit I'm thinking about finding the second in the series. It took a nice non-Twilight turn near the middle and I have to say I enjoyed that. What I didn't enjoy, this book lists a lot of phobias in it, trying to make the main character unique. Unfortunately, you tire quickly of reading lists of phobias and their technical names.

Which book is on the top of your "to read next" list?

Library of Souls & Lair of Dreams

THESE TWO! Brand new, just picked them up on the weekend. I'm dying to read them but am forcing myself to catch up on the reading challenge first.

Jody (jodybell) | 531 comments What did you read this week? Brave New World

Did you choose a book added a long time ago or a book you were not fully interested in reading? I chose a book that has been lingering on my "yeah, I'll read that at some point" list for ages. It never really grabbed my attention enough to make me desperate to read it.

Did you enjoy the book? I loved it!

Which book is on the top of your "to read next" list? Apart from the far too many books I already have on the go, next is either Red Queen or Dead in the Family - I need some guilty pleasure reading, stat!

Francesca | 391 comments What did you read this week?
Beauty Queens

Did you choose a book added a long time ago or a book you were not fully interested in reading?
I only actually added the book near the start of this year so it wasn't one that I've had for ages but it was one that I was quite unsure on whether I would enjoy it or not.

Did you enjoy the book?
Yes, very much so!

Which book is on the top of your "to read next" list?
I've just started reading The Girl with All the Gifts as that was my next highest priority on my to-read list.

Did you enjoy the book? Yes, but not extremely

Which book is on the top of your "to read next" list? Anything that's left in my challenge. Maybe Neverwhere

message 17: by Valerie (new)

Valerie | 9 comments What did you read this week? Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail

Did you choose a book added a long time ago or a book you were not fully interested in reading? I chose this book because my daughter was reading it and someone had loaned it to me, but since I never read what everyone else is reading, I was reluctant to read it.

Did you enjoy the book? Yes. I wish I had been able to follow Cheryl's journey on a map.

Which book is on the top of your "to read next" list? I never read one book at a time, but my most currently added to finish the challenge is O Pioneers!, a book with bad reviews.
