Anyway, will a book with "Vol. 1" in the title count for option 5? Like, for example, Lumberjanes, Vol. 1?"
The way they show up on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ (how they list it/how it shows up when linked.), my take on it is yes...one of several reasons I included graphic novels/manga/etc.
I will double check with the mods though just to be on the safe side!
Also dang it now I have a mighty need to read that for this task.
And it is Sailor Moon! :D +10 to whatever Hogwarts House you like! One Moon Princess deserves a reference to the other, and the story of Kaguya is actually used in the anime (or the manga). I have a terrible time naming things.

In the Sailor Moon Live Action series, one of the characters actually puts on a Kaguya-hime play, which I always liked.

I reached out to check about the Vol # thing.
I never got around to watching the live action, but my cousin and I used to love it. She even got me a huge sailor mars tote for Christmas. :D
Childrens is allowed as long as it isn't specifically DISallowed in any of the posts. I would think it could be a candidate for the "not childrens" post if it's not in AR Bookfinder which I don't think it would be? Some people are silly and think graphic novels are for kids. ;) Worth a check at least. (If not on AR Bookfinder and Not approved as "Not for Kids", you could always still use it for 5.10. And by you...I potentially mean "we".)

That'll work. :)
I looked at that book the other day actually! I think it was grouped with retellings at the time. Pretty sure it was when I was working on this task.

Yeah, it's not in AR Bookfinder. I also like how the genre page has "Adult" on there, too. So...it's really to be read by everyone! :D

I figured as much. People are silly with shelves. *shakes fist*

For Option 2 I plan to read this:

(Totally not grasping at straws here! :P)

A Thousand Splendid Suns will fit your task option 5 and

Thanks.

hmm intesting, i didn't know this was a retelling. i am usually so in tune with that genre. Its my favorite genre.

For Option 2 I plan to read this:

Verified 'Retellings' 80 users
And cover works :D

For Option 1 (Retelling in Main Genre)

I like options, because I find them challenging -- I'm terrible at making decisions. haha.
Northanger Abbey is verified 'Retellings' 14 users. Unfortunately it wouldn't work for Option 2 as "The full circle of the moon must be visible" -- internal obstructions are okay, but the circle is broken. Sorry :/
Dorothy Must Die is verified 'Retellings' 209 users. I'm hoping to read the second book in series this season. I enjoyed the first. :)

Thanks"
Verified as 'Fairy Tales > Fairy Tale Retellings' 3 users
And 'Retellings' 3 users
:D

(Totally not grasping..."
For option 2 that's where the challenge bit comes in, "The full circle of the moon must be visible" -- internal obstructions are okay, but the circle is broken so it wouldn't fit. Sorry :/
I do really enjoy that series though, so hopefully you'll be able to read it for another option/task! :D

That works! The cloud is over it, but the circle is still entirely visible through it.
Also I have a slightly irrational love of that series. lol.

Yay! :D Always nice when those things work out! I'm glad I could be of service!

Cheers"
Dang it, I have to say no even though it's sooooooo cloooooose. "The full circle of the moon must be visible" -- internal obstructions are okay (like the silhouette of her body), but the circle is broken at the bottom by her leg and the grass, so I have to stick to the wording and say no. :/

That'll work. :)
I looked at that book the other day actually! I think it was grouped ..."
I added it to the 'Retellings' option too as verified. It's a retelling of Great Expectations at least Miss Havisham.

Beauty verified 'Retellings' 206 users and 'Fairy Tales > Fairy Tale Retellings' 116 users
Nothing to Envy verified as 'History' 530 users

That works for option 5. :D

Option 2:

Unfortunately the title of the book is denying you by covering up part of the moon! :(
"The full circle of the moon must be visible" and the text is obscuring part of it. That bit denied me a few of the options I was like IT'S A MOON!.......*mutters favorite quasi-curse "son of a biscuit"* Sorry!

If I missed anyone in playing catch up post-work, feel free to throw some balled up paper at me to get my attention. >.>

For Option 1 (Retelling in Main Genre)

I like options,..."
No worries. I'll read

Like this one:

and for option 3 a single girl or woman on the cover Wicked"
Gold star for you too! :D Now I want to do a Sailor Moon theme task some time. haha.
A Kiss in Time is verified 'Retellings' 96 users

For Option 1 (Retelling in Main Genre)

..."
That works! :D

Anyway, will a book with "Vol. 1" in the title count for option 5? Like, for example, Ms. Marvel, Vol. 1: No Normal"
Ms. Marvel, Vol. 1: No Normal would work for option 5! :D It also works for Option 3!

For option 1: Scarlet
and
for option 3:

Scarlet is verified with 'Retellings' 432 users
And that cover works for option #3 :)

The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter tells the story of a childless man who cuts down a glowing stalk of bamboo and finds a thumb-sized baby girl inside. He and his wife choose to raise her as their own and every time he cuts down bamboo from that day forward, he finds a gold nugget inside. Kaguya-hime grows from a tiny thumb-sized infant to a beautiful young woman.
This is a TWO BOOK task. Choose TWO DIFFERENT options and read a book for each.
Books with the main page genre 'Sequential Art(Graphic Novels/Manga/Comic Collection)' ARE ALLOWED.
Since Kaguya-hime gave FIVE impossible tasks to FIVE princes, I'll give you all FIVE not-so-impossible options to choose from.
REQUIRED: State which options you chose when posting.
Option 1: Stories of tiny infants found in plant-life or via other means, or similar stories with older, childless couples adopting infants they found are scattered throughout folk & fairy tales in many different cultures. They are told and re-told and beloved in many forms. This story alone has multiple versions. For this option, read a book with the main page genre 'Retellings'. The genre may stand alone or be embedded. (ex. 'Fairy Tale Retellings')
Option 2: Kaguya-hime is saddened when she sees the full moon, and finally admits to her adoptive Earth parents that she will have to return to her people on the moon. Why she was sent there in the first place varies from version to version. For this option, read a book where a full moon can be seen on the cover. The full circle of the moon must be visible for it to count. Required: Post the cover when claiming the task for completion.
[Examples]
Option 3: Since Kaguya-hime is sent to Earth alone and keeps her sadness to herself for awhile before she tells her parents what has made her so upset, read a book with a single girl/woman on the cover. There should be no other human or human forms present on the cover. Animals are okay. Can be a cartoon version of a woman, but not a doll or a only a silhouette.
Required: Post the cover when claiming the task for completion.
[Examples]
Option 4: The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter is a 10th century Japanese folktale and is thought to be the oldest extant Japanese prose narrative. Even though I majored in English and Bio, History was always fascinating to me--history of books/stories? Win/win. For this option, read a NON-FICTION book with the main page genre of 'History'. Any genre listing that includes "History" will work (i.e., History > World War II, Military > Military History, etc.).
Option 5: Whenever the Bamboo Cutter cut down a stalk of bamboo after finding baby Kaguya-hime, he found a small gold nugget. This was sent from the people of the Moon to him to help in the costs of raising their temporarily exiled princess. To help him count all these gold nuggets, read a book with a counting NUMBER found in the TITLE. The number can be spelled out like one, two, three or in numerical form; 1, 2, 3. Hyphenated number words, like twenty-one and thousand-dollar, will work. Ordinal numbers (First/1st) do NOT work. Once, Twice, etc. also do NOT work.

Ten, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: Powerful Lessons in Personal Change, One for the Money, Bitten in Two, Movies In Fifteen Minutes: The Ten Biggest Movies Ever For People Who Can't Be Bothered, 1776, The Thousand-Dollar Tan Line
