What did you read this week? Animal Farm

Did you choose a book you skipped or a book in a list?
I read all my school books, so I picked this one in a list.

Did you enjoy it?
It was well written but I disliked the story. I'll have a look at other books from this author, maybe I'll find something I like more.

Did/do you usually like your school books?
No, they were boring or uninteresting, it was the period I read the least because books weren't fun anymore.

Karen Michele Burns (klibrary) What did you read this week?

The Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare

Did you choose a book you skipped or a book in a list?

I was encouraged to read more Shakespeare, but completely uninterested at the time!

Did you enjoy it?

Yes, I did! I think you have to have had some adult experience with romance to get Shakespeare's ribald humor. It would have completely gone over my head in high school!

Did/do you usually like your school books?

About half and half. I don't like "forced" reading, but I love picking my own books for challenges!

Keri What did you read this week?
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

Did you choose a book you skipped or a book in a list?
A book in a list. I am pretty positive I read all the required books in school

Did you enjoy it?
It was ok but not as good as I was expecting.

Did/do you usually like your school books?
Not usually, but there were some exceptions

What did you read this week? Catcher in the Rye

Did you choose a book you skipped or a book in a list?
I don't think I skipped any books so I chose this one because it seemed like everyone had read it in school.

Did you enjoy it?
I don't know if "enjoy" is the right word, but I'm glad I read it.

Did/do you usually like your school books?
Yes, usually. I love to read.

Krysta (booksaremyfavthing) | 115 comments What did you read this week? To Kill a Mockingbird

Did you choose a book you skipped or a book in a list? I read all the books assigned to me in high school, and I'm pretty sure I read this one, but couldn't remember what it was about and wanted to re-read it before the sequel came out.

Did you enjoy it? Yes.

Did/do you usually like your school books? For the most part. I was assigned The Pillars of the Earth in high school. I didn't enjoy it then, but re-read it a couple of years ago and enjoyed it then.

Animal Farm

Did you choose a book you skipped or a book in a list?
I read all the books assigned while I was in school, so I choose from the list.

Did you enjoy it?
Yes. I also was surprised by how short it was.

Did/do you usually like your school books?
The ones I remember off-hand I like, but I can't recall anymore beyond those (not sure if it is because I disliked them so I tried to forget them or what).

Sarah | 186 comments What did you read this week? The Scarlet Letter

Did you choose a book you skipped or a book in a list? I read all my books in school so I choose one from a list

Did you enjoy it? I sure didn't. I almost gave up half way through the book. This one wasn't my cup of tea at all.

Did/do you usually like your school books? From what I remember I enjoyed reading most of them.

Jody (jodybell) | 531 comments What did you read this week? Watership Down

Did you choose a book you skipped or a book in a list? I read all of the books I was assigned at school, so I chose a book that I felt that I *should* have read when I was school-aged.

Did you enjoy it? Eh. It was ok. I gave it three stars because the writing was beautiful and evocative, but to be honest it wasn't memorable and the characters all blended in to each other. I found that I didn't give a crap what happened to any of them, which isn't a good sign!

Did/do you usually like your school books? I did! I didn't enjoy Animal Farm so much when I read it at school though, but I reread it many years later & really enjoyed it.

¶Ù²¹²Ô²¹Ã« | 30 comments What did you read this week? The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

Did you choose a book you skipped or a book in a list? I can't remember any books I completely skipped in school, though there was at least one I skimmed the ending of rather than slog through. I couldn't find a copy of that, so I chose this from a list. I picked it because I had downloaded the audiobook this summer from the SYNCya program.

Did you enjoy it? Adventure stories aren't my really my cup of tea, but I did enjoy the writing and humor.

Did/do you usually like your school books? A few I adored, a few I detested. I always preferred choosing my own reading material.

Silvia Turcios | 304 comments What did you read this week?
Los cachorros by Mario Vargas Llosa

Did you choose a book you skipped or a book in a list?
I chose a book that was required in the school of my husband, but not in mine.

Did you enjoy it? It was OK

Did/do you usually like your school books? Yes, in general I did, but some of them were a little difficult and couldn't finish The Iliad and The Divine Comedy. Still planning to read them someday
