April 2009 Reading Challenge
OOHHH, this is a GOOD one. I'm in. Now, to just decide WHICH 9 series. :o)
Well, I already know a few, so here goes
1--My Favourite Earthling (follow up to book read in March)
2--Don't Talk Back to Your Vampire--in the Broken Heart, OK series. Its actually before the one I read for the March challenge, but hey, I didn't realize that when I did the March book. :o)
3--Devil May Ride--Ghost Dusters book, not sure what number, but I've read the others up til now. This is, I think book 3.
4--Year of the Griffin--book 2 after Dark Lord of Derkholm. This is by Diana Wynne Jones, and, if it measures up to the previous one, it will be GREAT. (btw, just as a spoiler if you haven't read book 1--the Griffin--a real, part eagle, part lion Griff--is the daughter of the human Dark Lord refered to in the previous title)
5--Yes, I'm going to find another of the Dark Hunter books by Sherilyn Kenyon to read. Don't know which one, but 1 of them
6--TBD
7--TBD
8--TBD
9--TBD
Altho, I belive the next Dresden comes out in April--if so, that will definately be one of the books I'm choosing for April.

Nichole: I remember us having this convo on another thread. If you finished Kyrian's and still weren't thrilled, I'm not too optimistic about converting you.
But yes, most of the fans love Zarek's story. If you didn't read the book before his and need any background info, lemme know.
Simi and her shopping list. Tee hee...

Michelle M - I plan on being fully caught up by the time I read Zarek's book. I started Talon's a couple nights ago and should be done with it by the end of the week. I believe there aren't any other books between Talon and Zarek, right? I think there might be a novella in an anthology but that you don't need to read that to know what's going on. (Right???)

No, you don't need the short stories. They're truly extras and just expand on the world. Most are good, but not necessary. Fury's story is informative, but that's one of the latest installments.

I'm IN! My mom texted me the deets at church and I wasn't even home and knew of four books instantly I could read! ROFL. Bone Crossed - yay another Mercy! And the third Tate Hallaway book. The third Dresden novel. Etc etc. This is gonna be such a piece of cake. I have so many series books and I've been itching to read some but these challenges have kept me from it! HEHEHE I'm really excited!!!! And a good thing because April is shaping up busy with Easter and Ravencon and stuff.
My real worry is going to be May. My May is going to be INSANE. I seem to have something every weekend, plus an entire week. If I could afford a second week as well. LOL
But I'm excited. YZ because of your challenges I have read 43 books this year! THANK YOU!!!!! I look forward to breaking FIFTY in April! :)

After discovering new authors last February and trying out new sub-genres this month, I'..."
Yz,
Does it have to PNR for the challenge...can the book be just Urban PN/Fantasy?

Actually, that was my bad... I'm actually going to be reading Succubus Blues. I've only read her Vampire Academy books - but I loved them!

Oh, you silly thing. Well, it was good! The fourth in the series is coming out soonish. Enjoy!

I <3 Mead's Succubus Series...I hope you enjoy it :)

I think most of us usually do a pretty good mix of PNR and UF. Don't feel like you have to stick to PNR if you have some good Urban Fantasy books you want to read!

How are you like the Dark-Hunters so far? I started reading them right at the end of February, and am hooked right now.

Meh....
They're alright. I'm definitely not hooked, but I don't want to throw them at the wall, either. I'll probably stop reading them after Zarek's book unless lightning strikes.

At least those five.. still don't think I'll be finishing March's challenge... or if I do my list may change dramatically...
Karen, Ann, Oz, and Lori,
LOL..you made me laugh with your reaction to this challenge. I was weighing whether this is the right challenge for this month, and you, guys, just gave me the approving thumbs-up...
On my own, I'm personally waiting about which book I will finish this month..(going slow on my reading...blame work on that and a slight bout of depression..LOL) before I put up my list.
Sometimes choosing what to read is as much fun as actually reading..LOL

I'm not finishing a number of the books I had down for March--I just don't think I'll get to them. (I can't even find my March list on the discussion board, but I'm partway into two of the books and having trouble finishing...)
So, some of the books will move from March to April. Some will change. I have Nalini Singh's Angel's Blood to read. It's going on there. (Nalini and I have a mutual admiration society going. Love her books.)
I still have the Rachel Caine Weather Wardens book to read. But I also want to read the new book in Mary Balogh's historical Huxtable siblings series. AND I picked up the review copy of Lisa Kleypas's new contemporary hardback at the newspaper where I work parttime. I want to read that too.
But I have lots of PNR I want to read--if I have time for much reading. It will probably take me the rest of the week--which is all there is left of March-- to finish the Waddell and the Cole I'm working on, so some of the stuff will move to this list...

1. A Rush of Wings by Adrian Phoenix
2. Passion Unleashed by Larissa Ione (I am addicted to this series)
3. Halfway_to_the_Grave by Jeaniene Frost
4. Lover Avenged by J.R. Ward

Plus it makes it very easy because I know I'll be reading something I enjoy! Now, if I can only get so lucky for my super duper busy May!!!! I really don't want to miss May's challenge but I'm already stressed out because of how busy I'm gonna be!

2-The Immortal Hunter - Lynsay Sands (Argeneau series)

LOL, It's going to be my down fall!

I keep waiting for a group to choose it at one of their books of the month so I have an excuse to re-read it! All of the world must love Adrian Phoenix! ;)

After discovering new authors last February and trying out new sub-genres this month, I'm sure plenty of us would like to continue with some of the great storylines that we have discovered. So I nicknamed this challege, Serial April.
The challenge is to read 9 books that belong to 9 different series. Doesn't matter whether it is the beginning, middle or end. Easy enough...LOL. I have a feeling the problem is not filling out the required 9, but trimming it down to the specific 9.
Have fun putting your list together, everyone.
Challenge Duration: April 1 - April 30, 2009
You can put your tentative list up...but no reading yet until April 1st for these books.
