So, it is now October 1 (well, in Australia) (and the reception in this place is really bad its in the middle of the country damn I just went back down to 0 bars but theres a good spot near the microwave where I can get 2 bars) and the results of the poll should reveal themselves later today, if Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ operates on American time which I assume it does. So, we can either just have one BOTM or use the top 3, what do you guys think? I also think we should restart the series read and the themed read, and maybe in November have a challenge?

Ok, I am going to make the BOTMs the top 3 from the poll - Daughter of Smoke & Bone, The Summer I Became a Nerd and Throne of Glass. I am going to put up a poll with a few themes so we can restart the themed reads, and I will put up a thread for series nominations so we can restart that. Is that good with everyone?
I've put up the currently reading books, made discussions, set up poll for themed read and set up thread for series nominations :) Also sent out a group message and invited people to the poll. All done :)
I had an idea for a year long challenge for 2014, I haven't quite worked it out yet but it would sort of be an around the world challenge. I'll let you know when I work it out more. I think it would be fun :) Also I'm thinking of ideas for mini monthly challenges, lots of other groups do them and they look quite fun :)

Hey guys! I'm back now! Thanks to Jenny for keeping an eye on the read2reviews for me. Maybe we could do some sort of event for Halloween? Like a carnival?

When was the group first created? It was like December last year right?
Anyways so about 2 weeks ago I sent out the group updates message and in reply I received a message from K.A. Coleman (Pen Name was Lucy Kelly) author of Holding On and Letting Go and this is what it said:
Athena,
I authored the book Holding On and Letting Go. It is filled with strong female characters and contemporary. If members in your group ever want to read that book, I'd be happy to a live question/answer session on GoodReads and give away some copies of the sequel. Currently, I'm writing the last book in the trilogy.
Let me know,
Kelly
Should we arrange something? Also, sorry for not letting you guys know earlier school has been back for only 2 weeks and is soooooooo busy I have like no time for anything :( But hopefully after the end of this week things should go back to normal

I got a message from a member, and she suggested that she would like to see more polls, other than BOTMs, for example Favourite characters. Anyone got any ideas?
Also I finally messaged back Kelly and we'll see what comes up

I think the idea of polls is great. I will try and think of some more things we could add to the group. I'd love to do something special, like a Christmas event. We could make wish lists and maybe find some people who would like to give away a copy of their book or something...just a thought. I can't think of any other groups I am a part of which do that.
For 2014, I was thinking of a round-the-world reading challenge. There would be the group one and an individual member one. The aim would be to read books set in as many different countries as you can. Everyone would contribute to the group one. If you guys think that's okay I can get the thread ready now and we can let people sign up.
It would have mini challenges every month, like "Read a book set in Spain" or something

Athena,
Not a problem. If I don't answer an e-mail or message immediately, I rarely remember to get back to it which is awful but true. I'm just going to throw out some options and you can decide which you feel would be the best for the group.
A) I can give 20 copies of the book away, and then do a question and answer session for you sometime. The second book is out; I am currently in the midst of writing the third and final one in the series.
B) I can give some copies away and then do a blog post for you if you want it.
C) I'm fairly open to ideas. Let me know what you want. I'm also willing to release the final book in the series earlier to members in your group.
Honestly, of all the groups, I am most invested in this one. I teach all high school girls, and their strength inspires me. I've taught several females who will undoubtedly be headed to the next summer Olympics, and I've taught dozens more who are at the top of their class at ivy leagues. They are all fighters and survivors who prove to me on a daily basis that every stereotype of a high school girl is an insult to females everywhere.
Kelly
I think option A would be fantastic, let me know guys :)

Wow, Athena that's awesome. Option A for sure ;) That's so nice of her!
Love the reading challenge thing, loads of countries spring to mind.

As December 27 is just after Christmas I probably won't be available :( You know how it is, and I had to delete Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ from my phone due to technical difficulties, so I might not be very active at all on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ in the future, depending on whether I'm getting a laptop or not. Sorry about that, I did not foresee this coming.
Maybe you want to tie the YA Heroines day in with what I mentioned in the messages above? I haven't spoken to Kelly for a while due to the reasons above and when I do get o my priorities are what I came here for in the first place, arranging books etc.
In fact due to me rarely being on these days does someone else want to continue planning things with Kelly because I think I will either not have enough time or forget, and then I feel awfully guilty afterwards. It would be very helpful :)

Awesome, all the info she sent me was posted on this thread so, I'll give you the link to her profile...

Sure - I'll promote it on mine too. Maybe if we leave links to the post we can go to each others and like the post ( I don't know if it works the same with other website hosts - I'm with Wordpress) so more people will come to visit it.
Hi guys, I'm going on holidays tomorrow afternoon (skipping the last day of school, yay!) and I don't know if I'll be back before the new year. If I am don't worry about this but if not could someone please arrange the themed botm poll and also the discussions when the botms (the girl with the iron touch and two others to be decided) are chosen, and the discussions for nominating a new series read for February and the general botm nomination thread, thanks :) and if I'm available don't worry about it...
Have a happy Christmas, holidays and new year if I'm not back by then guys :) see you later! :D

Will do Jenny! I'm thinking Twitter and blog. I think some other groups wouldn't mind anyway if we promoted in their group.
Jenny, is it too late for me to advertise the YA Heroines Day ON the 27th? It would be easier for me because I have had scheduled posts everyday until the 25th and today I wanted to do another post. Is that ok?
IM BACK HI
had a great Christmas and all that, hope you guys did too... excited for the new year... anyway I'm just going to choose one of the nominated books from each category and put them as botm since we don't really have time to do the polls this month I hope that's ok :)

Should we do the pick-it-for-me challenge next month?

We can probably do the pick-it-for-me this month, actually.

Hey guys I think I should step down from my role as mod :)
Sorry I haven't been the best of mods, this year was a lot busier than I realised it would be.
But thanks for the time I've had as mod :)
