I have discovered BOOK COLLECTOR!!
date
newest »

:D I used a trial of that a few years ago. I remember really liking it but realizing I wouldn't ever actually catalog all my pbooks like I intended, so I ended up here at Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ instead.

lol!
See, I am a little OCD so...
Plus, I already have the records to do it (thanks, GR!). I bought the connector subscription to let me do additions online. Which is sooo easy (ISBN uploader).
Nyssa, you're a mod. You can just delete her thread. :D
KIDDING!
KIDDING!

:-D
*evil laughter*

I thought about that, too.
Only...Calibre doesn't have a book database and this one does.
Here's a copy of a post I made somewhere else about it:
So, Book Collector is really powerful. O_o I got the pro version and its even more powerful. There's a lot of info that you have a chance to catalog and detail. Standard info also includes things like price - which would be a self-created category in Calibre.
There is a major difference between BC and Calibre. The price being one of them, lol! Calibre - being open source - has a lot of plug ins. Once of which is DRM removal. As far as I can tell, BC does not have that.
Drag & Drop: You can do this with ebook files in Calibre. BC does not do this.
Add an ebook file: You have to go through multiple steps to add ebook files to BC and you can only do that from "home." I can't do any screenshots because I'm not on my home machine.
Adding a book: regular - it's much easier to add a book via BC than Calibre if it is not an ebook. You can search via isbn, title or author. They have a huge database...that's getting bigger. Anything that is not in the database can be uploaded to the database.
EXCEPT: In speaking with a friend who has used BC for a while, Amazon and BC had the same falling out that GR and Amazon did. They no longer support Amazon ASINs. This only means that it's a manual input for all Amazon books that only have ASINs. If they have ISBNs as well...you can locate via the standard ASIN and then add a column (Pro version) or a note that it is a kindle version. Or you can put it in the format section (I'm labeling as Ebook: ePub or Ebook: Kindle)
calibre is a lot more difficult in adding non-ebook information. There's no database to pull from so...its 100% manual.
The thing I love about it the most is that it has a "connect" segment. this cost extra (I paid $4.80 for a year on sale. I've been told its $20 per year). The connect feature allows you to add books online from what ever computer you are at. You can then download the info from the net onto your personal database. This also allows you to upload the content from your personal database to the net to view on the fly.
If you buy the Pro version of BC you get the upload to the net portion for free, you just can't add online.
I LOVE this connect! It's the best way to add basic info, as far as I'm concerned.
I have a bunch of screenshots but they are all from Connect:
A snapshot of the current full listing, organized by entry date.
Snapshot of an author that I have multiple copies of the same book.
Snapshot of a single book listing
Snapshot of an author that I have multiple books by
shot of the ISBN uploader from Connect

I've entered most of my books into BCP. Now I'm showing 654 books/738 authors.
O_O
OMG. How to fix this?! I know it'll never be 1:1 because of co-authors and anthologies...but damn it!

Jerry, you can get the web-only product if you want. All it needs is a browser.
There are also iOS and Android apps.
Ken

Thanks Ken. I'll take a look.

BCP export to CSV.
Edit the CSV column titles to match what GR looks for, by using the sample file downloadable from this page: /review/import
Once that's done, on that same page, import your CSV into GR.

Just make sure you keep both files updated. There's no telling what can happen to your data here.
But Christa is on it! :-)
I've been indulging myself in an orgy of book cataloging.
O_o
I've got 305 books cataloged so far. (almost all are on the TBR mountain)
