I am from the U.S., and I live near Philadelphia in Pennsylvania. We are best known for the Liberty Bell and cheesesteaks. :)

So where in the world are you?

I'm in two different parts of the world (although usually in one piece), Elets, Lipetsk region, in European Russia about 240 miles to the south of Moscow. I'm a Brit, however, so I usually holiday in London. Elets is best-known for its lace; London, er, for being London I suppose.

Wow, how long have you been living in Russia?

And London does have Big Ben! ;)

Well, I've been living here full-time in Elets for a bit longer than 2 years, although I also spent over a year in Siberia. But I have been a visitor to Elets for about 10 years (my ex-wife came from Elets; now I live in Elets, subject to visa regulations and she lives in London!).
Things have changed a lot. When I came in 2003, most people in sales kiosks didn't use calculators, they used the abacus. (Great! Last week I found somebody in a stationery shop who still does.) When I first came, people were very poor so not many cars. Now, as no catalytic converters etc the air pollution is something rotten.
Elets has quite a grand cathedral, by the way.

Fascinating! I've lived in the same area my whole life so I couldn't even imagine what that must be like...

Oh I've lived in loads of bits of England and Scotland, Russia, Poland, Ukraine and Belarus. Plus 2 months hitchhiking round the USA - back in the mid to late 70s.

I miss Chinese and Indian food (staple food in Britain), and steak and chips (French fries to you). And bitter (warm beer to you, or maybe ale).

So you've seen quite a bit of the world! That's amazing. The closest I've come to leaving my country is when I went to St. John in the Virgin Islands for my honeymoon, but I didn't even need a passport since it's a U.S. territory. I loved it there - my husband and I were tempted to stay!

Hi everyone one. I live in a small town in Northern Arizona, called Prescott Valley.

I've heard a lot of good things about Arizona! Is it nice there?

I moved here about 7 years ago to be with my father. He was really the only reason I came here. Plus, I thought I wanted a small town atmosphere. I lived in Simi Valley, CA and both northern and southern CA my whole life so it was a big change. We have 3 lakes pretty close to where I live, 10-20 min. drives. There is less traffic, but I'm ready for a change now that my dad is no longer with us. I'd love to live near the ocean. ;)

Sorry to hear about your dad.

I'd love to live near the ocean too, although I guess I technically do since the Jersey shore isn't far away. But I'd love to live closer so it's not at least an hour and a half drive to get there!

California sounds wonderful, by the way!

CA was great but crowded. The further north you go up the coast, towards Oregon, the less congested it is. I'm kinda stuck here for now.

Thanks, we lost him almost a year aid, I'm just glad I got seven years with him. It was worth the move :)

I am a retired teacher living in Oklahoma City. I taught in the Moore School system for 38 years. I moved to Oklahoma from SW Missouri with my parents 45 years ago when I was a senior in high school. I met my husband in college and he worked for the Oklahoma City Police for 25 years. Our son and only grandson live next door so we will be staying here for a long time.

I live in Montreal, Canada. Both my parents were born in Italy and then they immigrated here about 50 years ago.

The wonderful thing about living in Montreal is the wonderful diversity and multicultural knowledge that we get to appreciate. Plus, we have wonderful and entertaining festivals throughout the year. It is always a pleasure speaking more than one language.

I Live in Wales on the side of a mountain 'Cader Idris' but tend to travel somewhere new every few months - I get bored out here - its too quiet. so blackpool this month - was in Liverpool a few months ago, manchester before that, Birmingham before that etc. Travel by train mostly so plenty of time to read.

Sounds a bit like freedom Taraja. Where do you stay when you get there?

Mostly hostels and small B&Bs I like family run places they have an atmosphere - not like the premiers and travel-lodges - giant clean factories them things :D.

I see you read Watership Down... that's such a sweet book. Imagine that... a saga about rabbits.
