I think maybe it was the labels that we attach to people...like, that Joey would only ever be remembered as gay.

I know, it felt kind of weird to me too. Kind of like he's been high on life the whole time and then he's very sober very quickly.It was quite disorienting

I felt like Andrew Smith invented to add depth or meaning to Winger with part four but it's only effect on me was to make me very upset. I still enjoyed the rest of the book but Joey's death felt unnecessary, unexplained and unpunished...
