I'll nominate The First Wave by James R. Benn. I'm curently reading this and really enjoying it. It is the second book in the series but the backstory is addressed in the first few chapters so you do not have to read the first to enjoy the second.
I nominate The Bone Thief by Thomas O'Callaghan, , first in this ongoing series.

Hi Soumyashri. I noticed that this book is the end of a trilogy. Will members who haven't read the first 2 be able to enjoy this book?

Hi Matt, Well, moderator duties are not to arduous. Checking in or posing a question every few days to keep the conversation going is all we suggest. Sometimes the conversation just takes off and the moderator really does not have to do much.

It's a little dark and creep at times, but the suspense and build up throughout the whole book made for a very fast and exciting read.
It looks like the movie comes out in 2014.

Great question and one I've thought of. Thanks for asking Matt.

I nominate my favorite Shirley Jackson -- We Have Always Lived in the Castle -- enough crime to go around!

I second the nomination.
I'll go with Aftershock by Andrew Vachss.

In honor of Leonard's passing, I concur but I nominate Rum Punch. I think it has better characters than 52 Pick-Up.

I second that. I've not read Rum Punch but would like to, partly to see how it differs from the film based on it, Jackie Brown.

Excellent book. I just finished it last week. ;)

Virals"
I'll second this; it's YA fiction, but an adult would certainly enjoy the entire three-book series.

Peace,

Please no YA.

Agreed. This is a mystery and thrillers group. There are tons of YA groups if you are interested in that genre.
Hi Everyone,
We just read a book by Kathy Reichs in June and we do not read another book by the same author in the same year so I'm going to have to disallow Virals by Kathy Reichs for this month's group read.

as a newcomer I must ask How do I vote?

Hi
We're just at the nominations stage at the moment. When this is closed (any time now) our excellent mods will put up a poll for us to vote.
I'm closing this thread to nominations and I'll get the poll up tonight.
Thanks, Paul, for the kind words :)

Please read rules below
General rules for Group Reads
1) If your nomination wins - you will be the discussion moderator.
2) One (1) nomination only per person. Neither self-nominations by authors nor nominations by their respective publishers or publicist will be accepted.
3) Do not cheat or manipulate results. It is not acceptable to create fake accounts to nominate books or vote in polls and it is not acceptable to invite people to the site for the sole purpose of nominating a book or voting for a book in a poll. It is not acceptable to ask for votes or influence the poll in any way. If the moderators feel that a group read poll has been manipulated, the book in question will be disqualified. If the moderators feel that the user(s) are fake accounts, these will be reported to Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ for further review.
4) Please do not repeat an author we have read in the last year. Check the bookshelves to see the authors we've read in the past year.
http://www.goodreads.com/group/booksh...
5) For your nomination please include Title, Author and Link (Use the "add book/author" link at the top of the comment box).
Since we are an international group, please check to make sure the book is readily available in more than one format. the last thing we want is to nominate a book that no one can get.
Finally, a word about series - the joy or bane of a mystery reader's life! Please consider whether the book you are nominating would be best read by someone who has read all the previous books in the series or can be enjoyed by someone new to the series too.
