Tracey I loved this book! He has such a dry, sarcastic sense of humor which I love. Between him and his dog, I was smiling through almost the entire book.

Richard E. (richardejohns) | 69 comments Read this one couple months back. first book in a long time that made me laugh out Loud.
Atticus and Oberon are severely set upon by most of the different god pantheons and Atticus still manages to stay one step ahead.
Looking forward to finishing the series.

Reader-ramble Love this series. Everyone who loves urban fantasy should read it. This is everything-but-the-kitchen-sink mythology done well. Atticus and Oberon are an awesome team. And I smile the whole time reading these.

PepperP0t love Oberon but haven't read this installment yet. definitely a fan of the series.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2569 comments Oberon is great!

Jessica (studioeastrat) | 216 comments Love this series. I have been listening to in in audiobook and they are AWESOME! Luke Daniels narrates it so well. This series is funny and full of action. Everything you could want in a UF.

Bailey (baileyharmon) | 15 comments I've had this one for a while but for one reason or another haven't gotten around to reading it yet. Guess a push like this is what I need. My kindle is named Atticus so I'm thinking maybe that's a sign I'll enjoy it.

Me too! I simply ADORE this series, and Oberon!

This book took me completely by surprise!! It was great.

Vera M. This series is fun, been trying to get my husband to read it with me because I think he would enjoy these characters as well.

Jessica (studioeastrat) | 216 comments I finally got my hubby to read them. He's on book 3 and loving it. It took forever to convince him. Kept at it Vera. :)

Bailey (baileyharmon) | 15 comments I've started it and it took me a bit to get everything pieced together in my head. I had to get used to all the new names and places but now that I've got my stride I'm so excited over it! No doubt Oberon is a favorite, but that widow is AMAZING. Love her. Ha.

Ladyacct | 65 comments It made me laugh but I really didn't like that ALL the women were not trusted by the hero - even the widow until she proved herself. Sooo I will not continue this series however, I do know many people who love it.

Johanna (jothie) I loved this book. It was sort of a random read for me and I was so surprised by it. There was not one boring moment and it had some great and hilarious characters. I'll definitely read the second book in this series.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2569 comments I think in general he didn't trust anyone that hadn't prooved themselves? It's been a while so I'm not 100% sure.

Reader-ramble Shera (Book Whispers) wrote: "I think in general he didn't trust anyone that hadn't prooved themselves? It's been a while so I'm not 100% sure."

He doesn't trust anyone. As Atticus sees it, only paranoid people get to be 2100 years old because paranoid people survive. The books are actually quite respectful of women, and that includes the MC. He respects women, even fears them occasionally. Why? One word: The Morrigan.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2569 comments That's what I was thinking!!!

I remember while reading it that a few parts could be seen as sexist, cause sometimes the Atticus thinks with his "little brain".

A.R. Moler | 29 comments Definitely a good book. I haven't had a chance to read the next one yet.

Catherine (catherinemb) My boyfriend brought home chicken apple sausages last night for dinner. I laughed! He thought I was crazy!

Oooooo! Were they good?

PepperP0t so we'll just call you Obie

Bailey (baileyharmon) | 15 comments Imagine if he brought home 5 French poodles!

Tracey I loved this book! I can't wait to read the next in the series. I thought it was so original and funny at times. His dog is by far my favorite part of the story.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2569 comments That's good Tracey! Plans are to read the next book in October!

Bailey (baileyharmon) | 15 comments Definitely a great first book. Different for me because I don't really read this sort of thing from male authors...which makes me ask myself why? The humor was right up my alley.
I have Hexed (The Iron Druid Chronicles, #2) by Kevin Hearne ready and waiting for next month!

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2569 comments I think the problem is that there isn't a lot of male authors in the UF and PNR genres.

PepperP0t another good NA series similar in style from a male author is Overworld Chronicles:
Sweet Blood of Mine (Overworld Chronicles, #1) by John Corwin Dark Light of Mine (Overworld Chronicles, #2) by John Corwin Fallen Angel of Mine (Overworld Chronicles, #3) by John Corwin Dread Nemesis of Mine (Overworld Chronicles, #4) by John Corwin

Well that would be a good reason I haven't read that many. Ha, I'm not very observant sometimes.

message 31: by Rebecca (new) - added it

Rebecca | 6 comments I absolutely LOVED Hexed. It was kind of refreshing with the male lead and I adore mythology. Add in Oberon and I was hooked. =D I actually picked it up because of the review I saw that Tracey posted! So reviews do work!!

message 32: by Johanna (last edited Oct 27, 2013 03:14AM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Johanna (jothie) I liked Hexed but not as much as I enjoyed Hounded. Don't know why, there was just something missing for me. It felt like a list of fights against different creatures and I couldn't completely understand the reasons for Atticus to fight. Felt more like person A walks up to him "You have to fight against a XY!" and Atticus answers "OK, let me get some magic items first and then let's go, but you have to know that I don't like doing this, even though I'm doing it anyway." So he fights, gets injured, goes to heal, and along comes person B.

I still LOVE Hearne's humor and Atticus as a character. Just the plotline wasn't really convincing. I'm curious about the next book though.

Ha. That's actually a pretty good summary. He gets tricked and talked into other people's problems too much. He should probably just advertise himself as a superhero for hire. He's got a pretty good sidekick already in Oberon.

Johanna (jothie) I just hope we'll get some real personal involvement again in some of the next books.

Bailey (baileyharmon) | 15 comments It was a lot of moving from situation to the next. All of Atticus' friendships and relationships did seem to stay sort of the same.
