Leland (indigitis) I would have to say the Keisri Hull(The Czar's Madman) is one of the finest novels I've ever read. Jaan Kross was one of the greatest writers to emerge from the Soviet Union in the last half of the 20th Century. His works are exceptionally Estonian: proud, sensitive and always aware of their relationship to larger more powerful neighbors who fail to captivate their true identity. Most of his writings have still to be translated into English, but Professor Martens' Departure and Treading Air are also two very worthwhile reads.

Amy (blacksheepdances) | 8 comments I agree on Purge, it's extremely intense and suspenseful but amazing as well. People need to know it's not about eating disorders!
I'm giving one copy away at my blog, . I reviewed it last summer. Highly recommend.
