What did you think of these? Could they be medal worthy?

I would be so pleased if Ribbit! got awarded. It is definitely one of my favorites of the year so far.

I keep going back to The Story of Fish and Snail by Freedman. I think it has some Caldecott potential.

I totally think Mr Tiger Goes Wild and Flora stand head and shoulders above these for the things that Caldecott is looking for - a true "picture book" such that it couldn't be read over the radio as the meaning would be lost without the pictures...

Mr. Wuffles by David Wiesner is an easy win for the Caldecott gold. It is breathtaking. Mr. Tiger Goes Wild by Peter Brown is also great.

I just finished Building Our House and was pleasantly surprised - the cover and title didn't appeal to me, but I thought it was a wonderful story about family, hard work, and dreams. I read Brave Girl when it came out. I LOVE Melissa Sweet, and thought it was a good nonfiction book about a topic elementary kids may not know much about. My students liked it. I still need to read Ribbit! and Dream Friends.
