A. Frost | 28 comments Hated it. I believe Ally Condie should give some if not all the money she made off it to Lois Lowry because she basically copied The Giver bar the boring romance part.

I hated this book. Really. It was bad.
Here's one of the rants I wrote about the love traingle. I thought I should share :D

"Another book I didnt like was Matched. I didn't like it at all. Anyone notice how similar the love triangle was to THG? Okay so theres the main character (Cassia, Katniss) and they have the handsome best friend whos secretly in love with her (Xander, Gale), but then theres the more sensitive, kind guy (Ky, Peeta[I hate both of these filthy pathetic, unmanly guys!!!!!]) who also fell in love with our protagonist because of some event that happened when they were kids. And then of course the more sensitive guy is chosen. I mean I'm not crazy right? Other people have noticed this?"

Hannah (hannahroboto) | 92 comments I thought it was okay (I gave it three stars), I found it really easy to read and kind of fun actually. It wasn't the sort of book that changes you on a deeper level, I just kind of enjoyed it for what it was, a romance disguised as a dystopian. I did like the romance, I liked Ky, I liked Cassia. I just wasn't happy with the second book at all, it was so boring I don't even know how I powered through it.

Natasha S ♥ (tashieareads) It was a good book... but i didnt read the second or third, it just got too boring.

readeraz (zoethereader) | 474 comments I don't want to offend anyone when I say this. But I seriously hated this book. Half of the time I wanted to stab my eyes out because it was so bad. I can read a 300 page in 1-2 days, and this book was around 300 pages, it took me a week!! It was just horrible. The writing was boring, the plot was boring, and the characters were boring!! XANDER IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN KY!! Xander forever <3

Chantae B. I'm only on page 30 something but so far I like it

message 12: by Ellie (new)

Ellie (bookowlellie) | 5 comments I completely hated this book. I had tried to start it about 3 times, got 40 pages in and couldn't stand it any longer so went on to read another book. In the end it was annoying me sitting on my book shelf unread, so I decided to just get it over with but it was such a struggle. I found myself checking what page number I was on constantly to see if I was anywhere closer to the end! The only good part about this book was it's beautiful cover which made me want to love the book, but unfortunately the content let me down:((

I Understand Why People DON'T Like The Series.

message 20: by Kelly (new)

Kelly I hate giving bad reviews but I just thought the plot was so good, and she ruined it! It was really slow and it was the same thing over and over. I've just started the second book in the series so fingers crossed!

message 21: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Ok it wasn't that bad it was actually an easy read but it was kinda boring

message 22: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Ya it just wasn't exciting in any way. The characters were good but that was pretty much it

message 23: by Kelly (new)

Kelly I've just started the 2nd one and it's OK so far. I like that it's not all from cassias point of view

message 24: by Kelly (new)

Kelly I'm not liking this at all so far! I'm so bored of it :(

Shadowhunter's Library (shadowhunters-library) | 132 comments I wrote a review on this book, but long story short: I thought this book was ok at first, it was interesting and I thought the world was cook. But then sometime after that I read the Giver and I knew the similarities and thought Matched was a Giver ripoff, but romance was the key point. And then I started to dislike it more and more and now it is my least favorite book.

Is it possible to hate a book with a burning passion like this one. I loved the concept but I feel it could of been written better.

One of my main problems with this is that I find Matched to be a modern rip-off (or remake) of The Giver, but with love being the main concept driving the story. So if I used a star system for certain concepts in books (I should do that...), I would give Matched no stars.

I thought that the writing style was lovely, but that was pretty much the only thing I liked about Matched, everything else I either hated or was annoyed by.

I never read the Giver. Another thing is everything seemed too perfect and easy for a dystopian society. Like oh your Match is Xander that seems a little odd.

Shadowhunter's Library (shadowhunters-library) | 132 comments I read the Giver about two months after I read Matched, and I thought it was WAY better than Matched. In the Giver, you could understand the flaws of the society and you could easily think about how the world would be like it was like that.

But with Matched, it just seems too perfect like you said, and that's way I find Matched to be so boring. And also the lack of any action being taken by Cassia makes this too long (and basically the main reason of my best friends hates this book). I would have liked it if the Matched trilogy was combined into one or two books and not three because trilogies make money (but that's a rant for another day).

Yeah true to that.

message 32: by Donita (new)

Donita (xxamethyststarxx) | 160 comments I just finished reading the last book in the Matched series, Reached. I thought all in all they were pretty good books to read. I was happy I got to know what happened to everyone in the end.

message 33: by Dana (new)

Dana Burkey (danaburkey) I really feel like I was reading a love story version of the giver.... I did like it overall, and the fact that there were some interesting things going on, but for me a book needs more than just a love story at its core... Also, I like Ky well enough, but I feel bad for Xander! I feel like the whole thing made me like Cassia less and less as I kept reading... I am reading the second book now, and hopefully it will get better from here.....
