That made it a whole lot easier to choose the books but I will still only aim for 5 - unless I find some I am reading for other challenges fit this one too!

message 11: by Phrynne (new)

Phrynne Just a thought. You could make an annual challenge with a list like that only we would have to read one book for every category

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) QUESTION re #2 .... is this supposed to be a NOVEL (i.e. fiction) or a Biography/Autobiography (i.e. NONfiction)?

Or either ...

QUESTION re #5 ... historical novel written in the time of "now,"
Not sure what you mean by this. Are you talking about a novel that was "contemporary" when written but would now be considered historical ... e.g. Love Story by Erich Segal ... although I admit that was written more than 30 years ago ...)

message 17: by Book Concierge (new)

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) FYI ... noticed that you have #5 listed twice ...

The (auto)biographical is kind of to try and stretch the term a bit. Can you find a novel that is written about a real person? Maybe the names are changed. (i.e the Beat Generation write about REAL people but names are changed)- something along the lines of that.

The historical novel needs to be written within the last 30 years- and it needs to be something that is written about something that is historical. So the Book Thief was written within the past 30 years but is set i the time of Nazi Germany.

And I am not sure where 5 is listed twice?

The only reason I noticed is that I use an excel spreadsheet to track challenges ... and it numbers automatically so when I was making sure I had copied them all in the numbers were off...

Not really a problem ...
