Task 20.5 requires a minimum page count of 250 pages. The book you linked to, Catacombs: A Tale of the Barque Cats has 236 pages. If you read a different edition with >250 pages, please repost, linking to that edition.

For task 30.1, a die roll of 4 requires that you read a book with the letters A R G H found in the title. Daredevil Legends, Vol. 2: Born Again does not fit this requirement.

Okay. I just assumed since the Lord Ambrose Mystery was listed in parentheses like other series names are, that it would count as a series. I'll find something else.

Task 25.3, option 6, requires that the author's initials be "immediately adjacent reading from left to right." "CF" will not work, as that requires reading from right to left.

For task 5.9, the book must be set in one of the top 10 wine consumption countries, and China is not on that list. Perhaps you were looking at the list of wine producing countries, since China is on that one.

Task 30.6, option 3, requires that you read the first full-length published book and the most recently published full-length book.

Starry Night: A Christmas Novel was first published 1/1/13. GR shows at least 2 books published by Debbie Macomber since then, including Summer Wedding Bells, published July 2013.

Points for the other tasks in the post have been recorded.

That is really just ugh! because the book wasn't released until October. I went to her actual website and tried to make sure I got the latest book. Blah! I will try to find the Summer Wedding Bells book or start all over with a different author. Thanks for the heads up. Back to the drawing board.

Dee (austhokie) | 8803 comments Could it be that someone screwed up the publishing dates on GR?

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 3024 comments *comfort* I have to start all over on a task because the book wasn't long enough. If you still want to use Debbie Maccomber, the earliest published book I found is "Starlight" which was published 1983. I just searched her books on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ and went by original publication date.

Dee wrote: "Could it be that someone screwed up the publishing dates on GR?"

It certainly could be - as we have pointed out many times, GR data is often inaccurate - it's entered by anyone who signs up to be a librarian, and while some librarians are careful and painstaking in researching the data before making changes, others are less so.

However, the only thing we can go by here is GR data - we simply cannot research everything beyond GR. If a participant is claiming a book, the GR data doesn't work for the task, and the participant believes that the GR data is wrong, it's up to the participant to do the research and have the data changed if appropriate. This should be done before posting the task.

Thanks for doing this research, Dee.

Bamaace83, if you want to repost, the books will work now. If I were you, though, I'd do it fast - when I was wading through the list of her books to find the publication dates, looks like she cranks books out pretty fast!

message 80: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 263 comments Thanks so much for fixing the book, Dee. I will admit that I didn't think to check the publication date on goodreads because I was following her actual website. I will try to be more careful with dates. I will go post right now. Debbie Macomber writes tons of books and that's why I was trying to be oh so careful.

This is not a problem, just an FYI.

We realized that the rule is not clearly worded, but the "floor" for regular SRC eligibility is 100 pages, not 101. So, your book for 5.1 works as a regular choice.

We'll reword the rule before the next challenge to make this clearer.

For task 25.6, you claimed Missing in Mexico. This book appears to only exist in e-book form.

The rules of the challenge provide that
If you claim a book in Completed Tasks that exists ONLY in ebook format, you MUST provide a reference to the ebook verification document when you post ex."Approved @ line #" or provide the post number in the ebook verification thread where it was approved ex. "ebook Approved post #"

The print edition must show on GR. Please have a librarian add it if you want to claim it based on that print edition.

Task 25.11, option 3, specifies "read a book by an author whose first name appears on this list of most popular male and female dog names."
You claimed A Boy and His Dragon by R. Cooper, using the name "Cooper." Unfortunately, Cooper appears to be the author's last name, not the first name.

Task 20.3, option 1, requires that this be a collection of short stories, "identified as such in the book's title or GR description; novellas, essays, and poems are NOT included." The Druid Series, Volumes 1-3: Reapers, Bled & Harvest appears to be 3 separate novellas collected into one volume, not a collection of short stories.

I guess I am confused about the difference. I had posted in the help board for the task but never heard back. It says three stories in one, so I thought it would work. I have another option but I will wait to hear from the task creator before I use it.

Thanks - Jecca

message 96: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 8803 comments Jecca - I think because they are labelled vol 1-3 - which implies 3 books in the same series collected into one volume, which didn't fit the individuality idea of the task

If this also exists in paper, please post with the link to the paper version, or have the editions combined by a librarian. If it only exists as an ebook, please ask for length approval in the ebook verification thread.
