Are we doing another challenge after the one currently taking place?! It sounds like so much fun but I just joined recently and everybody is so far ahead! I think we should have on going challenges just for fun!
I have a suggestion: (I got it from another group) redaing 26 books with author's last name starting with one letter from the alphabet, A-Z.... does it make sense?

I'd like to do an on going challenge for fun without time limits! The author's last name is a great idea! Also, the Newberry list or other lists could be on going challenges.

I like both idea, girlies! I'd participate.

I'm game for anything. It gives me an excuse to shuffle my tbr pile and push up things I might otherwise not get to.

We could do that and another contest when the current one ends.. :)

I'm totally having fun with challenges. So I'm game for more challenges!!!

I would like on going challenges with no limits also, Linda Grace. I also like the last names of authors idea. Maybe we could use authors we have never read before. That would expand our horizons on good authors.

Another book club I'm in picks specific "shelves" to read from to get you out of your comfort zone. Maybe we could make a list of shelves, and have to read one from each that we haven't read before.

Well if we ever decide on another challenge outside of the official one...I don't mind keeping track of the points if we do another challenge...just let me kno!!!

I've got too much going on right now, but I'll chat with Fiona and see what we're gonna do. I like some of the suggestions that have been made.

Well whatever is decided and if help is needed on here...let me know...I'm not planning on traveling these next few months (step-dad is working in Qatar and my mom & I don't plan on going there)

I don't mind keeping track of points and things like that. I love using excel and would love to keep track of all that... if points are decided to be used.

I don't know if I'm organized enough to keep track of everyone's points, but if you wanted help setting up tasks and point values for those, I'd be willing to pitch in.

Sounds like we have a couple people willing to help with the next challenge. Now what type of challenge should we do? If we are going to do it, we should have it ready for people to start when the current YA challenge is finished in less than 2 weeks.

Should we have a poll to see what kind of challenge most people will participate in? If so, what would the choices be? So far these are the ideas we have...

1. Another official YA challenge
2. YA author's last name challenge A-Z
3. Newberry List Challenge (or other lists)
4. Read from shelves, books you haven't read before

It could be a combo. Those could be the levels, with specifics within each. Like a sampler platter, if you will... =)

Look like it's going to be a Combo challenge!! I was thinking about making it 4 sections (1 from each of the suggested challenges) and having a 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 point task for each section making it a total of 300 points... how does that sound?

I feel the challenge is going well. There is usually at least one new post every morning with points. I have enjoyed keeping track of everyone's points and I think Lydia would make a good candidate for the next challenge. She has been very consistent in posting on our current challenge and did come up with our 50 point question.

I think if we are going to keep the same format for the next challenge, we should have new sections. I wouldn't mind being a part of a different type of challenge either.

As always, I'm willing to help where needed, so let me know. :)

Oh Misty was a big help getting the challenge going for the current challenge. She would be another perfect candidate. :) Looks like we have at least another 6 months of challenges!

While I kept up on my personal reading and what was going on with the board, I started to feel a bit like I might be stifling those readers who did not have as much time as I had. In reality, I would read and post my points when I was close to completing a section. So the number of posts are not totally representative of my interaction with the board.

I think Linda Grace's basic format is fabulous and it really made me feel such a part of the group (I'm involved in a rather in-depth conversation about sci-fi and fantasy right now -- which has suddenly involved horror/gothic, Linda!). Linda's format really facilitated contact between members of the group.

Misty is essential to the challenge format. I would really like to do this with detailed input from her and Linda Grace.

I have a new challenge outlined and would really like to do it. I would like to offer prizes as well. However, I would like this to be another "Official Wildthings YA Challenge". I think an on-going challenge could also be put together by someone else.

Linda, this challenge has been great!

So, just let me know and I can send you all the outline of the challenge I developed at any time.

I guess I'll be asking for Amazon giftcards for Christmas this year! Luckily, I can pass my purchases onto my son. He was super jealous when he saw my TBR stack for the challenge... haha. I'll be a great help, though, for his next book report on The Graveyard Book!

I used to love reading a books with my daughters, Angel, and then having them do a report. They thought it was so cool Mom bothered to read with them.

Thanks everyone for the praise. I had a lot of fun getting the challenge together and keeping track of everyone's points.

Lydia, I too would like to do an ongoing challenge. I will have to research what kind of challenges there are and post later what I come up with.

So far this is what I've come up with as possible on-going challenges. Let me know if you know of any other kind of challenge.

Shelf-a-Thon: Reading books from specific shelves to try and read books for all possible shelves
A-Z Challenge: Keeping track of Books read by the last name of the author to try and read books from authors last name starting with 'A' all the way through last name starting with 'Z'
TBR 10-a-month: Posting a new top 10 for your TBR at the beginning of each month and trying to cross off each book before the next month begins (this would be to help people go through their TBR piles)

Those on-going challenges are REALLY different from each other, Linda. I'm not clear what the ultimate goal is. One seems to have a time limit and the two others don't. Sometimes I'm thick -- what am I not getting?
