Eva Do you have a library or designated room for your books? They do take up room, but I love to look at them. Eva

message 2: by Tracey (new)

Tracey (tracey1970) My books are all over the house. I have a bookcase in my living room, but the others are stashed in bedrooms and boxes. I find books everywhere but a world without books is like Laurel without Hardy.

Debra A huge bookshelf in the spare bedroom and a smaller one at the end of the hallway. Of course books scattered all over the house in different stages of being read; my purse, both bathrooms, by the couch, and magazines everywhere.

Gloria (GloriasBooks) | 11 comments On a huge bookshelf in the living room, a bookshelf in the music room, some in boxes, some in other, smaller shelves throughout the house. I dream of my own library with a ladder to reach the highest shelves and a nook by a window for reading...

message 6: by Liz (new)

Liz I live with my parents still (I'm still a student), and I have three bookshelves in my room. My parents books are otherwise stowed in the bedroom, my parents' respective studies and a few other places around the house.

message 7: by JSou (new)

JSou I have bookshelves in my living room, in my TV cabinet in my bedroom, on the shelf in my coat closet, stacked on my dresser, piano, and coffee table...pretty much anywhere I can fit them. I don't know why, it makes me feel bad to box up my books, so I have to display and/or shelve them wherever necessary! :)

April (booksandwine) | 954 comments I keep mine on three bookcases in my bedroom. Just a little plug for a thread I started, if you are interested in actually seeing other people's book cases and posting pictures of yours, there is a thread on this group titled "Show Us Your Bookcase," quite a few people have posted lovely pictures of their books. Here is the link: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...

rebecca j (technophobe) | 6029 comments I have two bookshelves and 8 boxes of books in the living room. two bookshelves and bookshelf headboard in my bedroom, four bookshelves in hallway, bookshelf headboards on my two daughters' beds, and one bookshelf in the kitchen. I have two bookshelves on the front porch, and four in the shed, and boxes of books in the shed. And we bought 8 more books today!

Thanks, I went to the link and loved seeing the shelves. I guess most people don't have dedicated library rooms. My dream. Eva

I asked because I've always wanted a library. My books have spent too much time stacked up on the floor or packed up in the garage. I'd love to see them all on shelves. Maybe someday, as you say. Eva

Maybe like me you have library dreams!

Taejas Kudva (kudvat) | 77 comments All I know is that I don't have enough book shelves for my books, and I have too many book cases for my two bedroom apartment....

message 14: by Carol (new)

Carol (caroldias) I use bookcases... but I need more shelves! They are all messy :(

message 15: by Edith (new)

Edith | 256 comments I have a bookcase in the spare bedroom plus a majority of the selves in my living room are dedicated to books. The ones that I'm currently reading are always on the coffee table or the nightstand. I still have a box of books that I have no room for. Sigh! One day there will be a whole room just for books and reading. That's the dream anyway :)

message 16: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (JenJen1221) | 215 comments I have two shelves in the bottom of my wardrobe, so sadly that is my bookcase. I also have a bunch of piles of books scattered all around my tiny bedroom. The living room, my mom's bedroom, and even my cousin's bedroom isn't safe from all my books (there are piles there, too)...I can't wait until the new house is built because my step-dad is making sure that we build some nice bookcases for my bedroom.

message 17: by vicki_girl (new)

vicki_girl | 89 comments All of my bookcases are in the master bedroom (with me!). I have a very hyper dog and two rough and tumble boys, and my books just wouldn't be safe anywhere else. I don't even leave them on the coffee table, beacuse who knows what will happen to them while I'm at work.

I really think of the room as the library (rather than the bedroom). I've even told people a few times, "I don't really have a master bedroom. I just sleep in the library." ;)

message 18: by Darcia (new)

Darcia Helle (darciahelle) We recently remodeled our back room / den. It is now a library / office. My husband put in 4 built-in bookcases and built a book bench that sits beneath a very large window. (Thankfully, he is incredibly talented, as well as tolerant of my book addiction!) I think the shelves combined hold somewhere around 700 books and I still have overflow in my garage!

I'm pretty sure I will not live long enough to read all the books I own and yet I buy more. I should probably seek psychiatric help!

message 19: by LaTrica (new)

LaTrica | 54 comments I would love to have a dedicated library someday. For now I have two bookcases in my living room, two in the hall, and one in my bedroom. I may have to rearrange them and put my favorites on the shelves on my headboard to make more room.

message 20: by GracieKat (new)

GracieKat | 864 comments My dream is to have a whole room. *sigh* But for now they're wherever they'll fit.

message 21: by Manday (new)

Manday | 212 comments Most of my books are in my office, but we have two more rubbermaids of them in my husbands office waiting for a new shelf. We want to have a room dedicated to being a library someday. The books I have from the library, or am planning to read really soon, are in a stack in my kitchen on a half wall there, and the books I am reading get scattered all over the house!

message 22: by Marci (new)

Marci (iread49) | 215 comments I'm still waiting for my 22 yr old to move out to make his room into a library.... Imn the meantime my books are on shelves in my office and piles in front of my book cases !!!

message 23: by Nature.artist (new)

Nature.artist | 4 comments I have books on shelves and in 3 cupboards in my entertainment center. I have a three tiered bakers shelf with part of my cookbook collection. I have two book cases in the spare bedroom loaded with stacks on top. 3 large storage containers under the bed and 4 more in the attic -
The books from the library (5) are stacked in the corner of the couch and the bedroom night table has a tower of my husbands books that he has finished reading.

My name is Joan and I admit I am a book-a-holic!

message 24: by GracieKat (new)

GracieKat | 864 comments I think a shorter question for this group would be where don't you keep your books! :)
