Week 45: a banned book.
December 10 - December 16, 2015

When a book is released, it can be very different from what the society is ok with. Some books were ahead of their time, others are/were totally offensive for religious or bigoted people. You'll try one of them, banned, censored, challenged, etc.

How to Create a Topic:
1. Create a topic in the appropriate folder using your book's author and title (Title by Author, please). Link your book with the "This topic is about" feature.

2. In the body of your post, comment about why you chose this book. Have you read it before? What are your expectations?

3. Feel free to use the thread as a way to update the group on your progress. Also, when you are finished reading, add a small review and your thoughts about the week's challenge.

4. Comment on everyone else's posts as well! Participation and group involvement will make this challenge so much fun!

**If you chose the same book as another group member for the same week, do not create a duplicate thread.**

Silvia Turcios | 304 comments Week 50!! Suddenly I have the sensation that the year is finishing and I still have so many books pending to read :( Anyway, this one I already read it, I chose Animal Farm and really liked it, but I also suffered a lot reading it :(

Haha, not it's just that almost all the folders are available! We'll reach the last quarter only on week 39. There's still plenty of time to complete the challenge (or to try to).

Sophie (sawphie) Silvia, I have the same feeling! When I look at my list of books for the rest of the year, it feels so short that I wonder where the year's went by!

Jody (jodybell) | 531 comments I know what you mean! I have only six books left to read for the challenge, so I keep thinking that I'll have a whole lot of spare time for side reads ... and then I remember that one of those is War and Peace and I'll probably be reading that bad boy up until midnight on NYE trying to get it finished.

Silvia Turcios | 304 comments Six books?! I understand what you mean with War and Peace, but anyway, just six books WOW!

I'm still deciding between Go Ask Alice and Rage by Stephen King. Go Ask Alice is more of a literal interpretation of the challenge but I've been intrigued by Rage. It was really controversial and King ended up taking it out of publication. My mom happens to have a copy of it from before it was pulled. Maybe I'll try to fit in both :)

Funny I am deciding between Go Ask Alice and a Stephen King book as well (Carrie.) I just put Carrie on hold with my library and then I saw that i already had Go ask Alice on my kobo. I don't ever remember downloading this book, I didn't even know what it was about till I looked it up on here.

Keri I only have six more books to read as well! I was going to read In Cold Blood but I tried and just couldn't get in to it. Most the books on the banned list that interest me I have already read. So I have decided to read Forever. Not on the banned list but it is on the most frequently challenged list.

Kaye Wyly | 20 comments Keri...Forever has been banned in school districts and libraries over the years...read confidently that you are reading a banned book...
