All questions about specific tasks and also general discussion. We will be adding some lists for books that could fit some of the harder to find tasks and updating it when people make suggestions. Feel free to give suggestions on books you think would fit someone’s needs for a task.

Benjamin | 65 comments Question: May I read Of Mice and Men for 15.2 Taciturn? I know the book is less than 150 pages, but I cannot find it fitting for a 5 point task. Plus, the category is very specific, and I think Lennie fits it well. Thanks for the consideration!

That would be fine.

Sara (saraa205) | 76 comments Does anyone have suggestions for books you can read for 5.1? I've tried to find a novel that has either a desert tree or a cactus on the cover, but haven't found any.

Vengeance Road by Erin Bowman has cactus flowers on the cover.

Animal Dreams by Barbara Kingsolver has a cactus on its first edition cover. :)

Sara (saraa205) | 76 comments I'm currently reading Kriget har inget kvinnligt ansikte/War's Unwomanly Face by this year's Nobel Prize laureate Svetlana Aleksijevitj and was wondering if I could choose it for 20.2 Printed Media?

It's written both in the form of reflections and autobiographic information from the author, whole chapters dedicated to specific woman fighters from World War II who Svetlana have talked to and then there are chapters that contains quotes and snippets from interviews Svetlana have done, all written as the interviewee told her, often in colloquial speech.

(I just finished "Letters from Father Christmas" by J.R.R. Tolkien, who fit the description - with letters, poems and pictures made by Father Christmas, the North Polar Bear and a elvish secretary, but since it's a childrens book with just over 150 pages, I won't choose it.)

Sara, that would work fine.

Haley (xbibliobibulix) | 42 comments For task 25.1 can the first book be a historical autobiography (Like Anne Frank's Diary or Elie Weisel's Night?) or does it have to written by a person other than the subject(s) i.e biography?

Haley, I think either of those would work.

Samantha (samhanson) | 179 comments I'm reading a collection of short stories by various authors. If a character/setting/plot from one of the stories applies to a task can I still use it? Or does the whole book have to apply?

message 14: by Tami (new)

Tami | 3103 comments Mod
If that story applies well enough, I would say it would be okay.

Benjamin | 65 comments When will the next task list be up?
