In the UK, The Anonymous Venetian, by Donna Leon, is NOT available on kindle. Also, That Yew Tree's Shade by Cyril Hare is on kindle, but under the alternative title, Death Walks the Woods.

Looks great, Susan, thank you for pulling this list together!

Some editions of The Anonymous Venetian are published as Dressed for Death - it may be worth checking both titles to find the cheapest copies.

Susan in NC (susanncreader) | 4907 comments I enjoy rereading Jane and the Twelve Days of Christmas, but that’s not in our period. My other Christmas favorite is Charlotte Macleod’s “Rest Ye Merry, and we’ve got that one in our challenge! Another one is Envious Casca by Georgette Heyer, but we’ve done that as well.

I know it’s been nominated, but the holidays are often busy, how about a short story collection you can dip in and out of, time permitting? Like Silent Nights: Christmas Mysteries Silent Nights Christmas Mysteries by Martin Edwards ? I know it’s been out a while and several members might have read it, but I was thinking an older book m8ght be more readily available.

Stories are a good possibility, Susan. Other collections which are Christmas based are:

The Mistletoe Murder And Other Stories The Mistletoe Murder And Other Stories by P.D. James

or

Christmas is Murder A Chilling Short Story Collection by Val McDermid Christmas is Murder: A Chilling Short Story Collection

Might be nice to have something a bit different?

Susan in NC (susanncreader) | 4907 comments Susan wrote: "Remember, it's a buddy, so we can go outside of our normal remits."

Well then, if we can go outside our usual times,I say let’s include the PD James and McDermid books also, they sound good - as always, if we can get them, great, if not, there’s older Silent Nights: Christmas Mysteries to fall back on. I’d also include Jane and the Twelve Days of Christmas Jane and the Twelve Days of Christmas (Jane Austen Mysteries #12) by Stephanie Barron .

message 987: by Susan (new)

Susan | 12931 comments Mod
Stories don't tend to get a lot of people joining in, historically, so I would only suggest one collection.

Jane and the 12 days of Christmas is number 12 in a series - they are on kindle in the UK but are expensive. However, if anybody wants to read a buddy ever, then only two people are needed and we are happy to set up threads.
