Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Did you enjoy it?
Of course!! That is why I reread it.
What kind of magic was in the book?
Witchcraft and wizardry :)

Did you enjoy it? It was really good - I enjoyed it very much. Neil Gaiman is quickly becoming a favourite author of mine.
What kind of magic was in the book? It's hard to describe, but it's certainly magical.

Did you enjoy it? Yes. The storytelling was wonderful. Very detailed and descriptive.
What kind of magic was in the book? The travelling show kind of magic. The main character is a very successful illusionist.

Did you enjoy it? Yes I did. It's Part 1 of a trilogy and while fantasy/magic has not been part of my reading list, thanks to this challenge, I was glad to find this book. I have added the rest of the series to my TBR.
What kind of magic was in the book? It is the story of a boy wizard and his early days studying Arcanum at The University. And no, it's not a knock-off of Harry Potter.

Homeland
Did you enjoy it?
It was very good. I immediately borrowed the other books in the trilogy.
What kind of magic was in the book?
It is about a dark elf who does not fit in with the social norms. Each person has some innate magical ability.

Conrad's Fate by Diana Wynne Jones
Did you enjoy it? It was good, but not my favourite from this author. Charmed Life and The Lifes of Christopher Chant in the same series were so good, that I was expecting something like that from Conrad's Fate, but althought I liked it, it was not sooo good.
What kind of magic was in the book? The main character is a powerful wizard.

Did you enjoy it? Not as much as I thought I would.
What kind of magic was in the book? A date in a sidewalk drawing, bedroom furnishings were pulled from a carpet bag, you know...the usual Mary Poppins stuff. Then, there was the odd spirit animal birthday party at midnight at the zoo??? It was very weird. Mary Poppins was oppressive, domineering, and witchy. The opposite of Disney fantasy. I think somewhere in the middle of these two extremes is a wonderful story.

Did you enjoy it? Yes, the whole series is a lot of fun.
What kind of magic was in the book? Everything from wagon wheels to mountains has a sentient spirit which the world's wizards can communicate and cooperate with - or, if they're unscrupulous, enslave to do their bidding. There is also a giant talking dog, and some incredibly powerful immortals doing sneaky things in the background.

The Graveyard Book
Did you enjoy it?
Very much. It was the first Gaiman book I've read and now I can't wait to read more!
What kind of magic was in the book?
Ghosts, ghouls, vampires and the magic they can do. The main character could perform some tricks (fading so no one could see him for example) that are usually reserved for the dead.

The Enchantment Emporium
Did you enjoy it?
Yes.
What kind of magic was in the book?
Lots of "charm" magic (in this book charms were drawn on everything), there are witches (though they never say the word), sorcerer(s), dragons, a leprechaun, some references to Fey culture and a few more obscure mythical beings. I wish they had expanded more on the world a bit more.

Did you enjoy it? Yes
What kind of magic was in the book? Charm magic.
