Deborah Pickstone | 563 comments Hmmm...will have to think up some extra challenges for myself as I plan to try to read a bit less than usual and do more painting as I am enthralled by mixed media....

However, I may as well aim for 300 and raise my game again as I did several times in 2015.

that's the series done *mourns*

Reckless: My Life as a Pretender"

Would you recommend this series?

message 12: by Deborah (last edited Jan 10, 2016 09:11PM) (new)

Deborah Pickstone | 563 comments Camille - I tried the first one when it came out and found it impenetrable. Then I tried again after seeing so many good reviews on here. I LOVED it! The first 5 books are best; the sixth stuttered a bit at the start and she wrote the last to reader demand and I think it shows - she herself had felt her story ended at volume 6, The October Horse: A Novel of Caesar and Cleopatra. Certainly I recommend the series! It has a most unusual style and can be wordy but the scholarship is amazing and the story had me riveted throughout several thousand pages. Be prepared to stick with the first book and not give up for 2-300 pages and if you aren't hooked by then, maybe it's not for you :)

I don't recommend the Chrissie Hynde autobiog at all.
