If you're participating in the group's 3rd Read-a-Thon, here's the place to post your progress throughout the week. Let us know how you're doing! This is also a great place to offer encouragement and support to your fellow read-a-thonners!

How many pages have you read?
How many books have you read?
What are you reading now?
What have you finished reading?
Tell us about a favorite character, scene, etc.

Remember, the idea is to read as much as you can and to have fun! Don't make reading a job or a chore. Don't let the progress of others intimate or discourage you. It's not a competition. Just read and enjoy! :)

message 2: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (sawphie) Hi, I've just woken up and I'm too sick to go to work, which is a very good news for my books, because I'm going to be able to take care of them today ;)

My goal this week is to finish the 3 books I have left for the 2015 challenge (House of Leaves, Ravage and The Importance of Being Earnest). I'm sure I'm going to be able to finish the two later books, but House of Leaves takes me so much time to read! Hopefully I'll soon come across a part of the book where nothing much is printed on the pages haha

message 3: by Erica (new)

Erica | 214 comments It's the afternoon here and I just finished my first book, The Pocket Wife (I was already about halfway done when I woke up). I'm hoping to finish a couple others I've started and maybe an extra book or two.

message 4: by Anne (new)

Anne Mey I'm in the middle of reading The Age of Innocence and I'm planning on reading every time i have a break at work !

message 5: by Meran (new)

Meran Where is the link to the thread where we post our pages for the days?

message 6: by Michelle, Mod Assistant (new)

Michelle (girlvsbook) | 403 comments Mod
Meran, you can post your pages for the day and any other progress updates you have right here! You're in the right place! :)

Sophie, I'm sorry to hear you're under the weather but glad you're going to get some quality book time in today!

Woohoo! Way to go Erica on finishing your first book!

Digging the enthusiasm, Mabomanji! Keep up the good work!

message 7: by Ed (last edited Nov 30, 2015 06:37AM) (new)

Ed Lehman | 48 comments I had already started Look Homeward Angel by Thomas Wolfe.
] I am reading it for the Winter Reading With Style group which starts tomorrow. We are allowed to start one book before the challenge starts as long as we don't go beyond 50%. So, I'm at page 220 and can only read to p. 264.
So far I'm ambivalent about the work... not awful... not compelling. It's on the 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die list which is my first place to go for books to meet my challenge requirements.

message 8: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (mich2689) | 122 comments I've been reading The Brothers Karamazov and listening to The Count of Monte Cristo today. I might start some shorter books tomorrow.

message 9: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (sawphie) Thanks Emmy! I've been able to read a bit of House of Leaves, but especially I listened to more than 2 hours of Red Dragon! I don't know why I've been putting it off for so long, but I feel kind of relieved now that it doesn't sit abandoned in my TBR.

message 10: by Anastasia (new)

Anastasia (anastasiaharris) | 319 comments I am trying to finish Canterbury Tales today. I have been reading it for about a week and a half. I love poetry, but I need to put it down after short periods.
The Confabulist is also on my list for this week. My library book club is reading it for December. I enjoyed his book [book:The Cellist of Sarajevo|2475251, so I have high hopes for this one.
Happy Reading everyone

message 11: by Luisa (last edited Nov 30, 2015 08:25AM) (new)

Luisa (deborahluisa) I planned to finish 4 books and read others 2 but not necessarily finish them. I divided them, like small goals daily.

I didn't finish any yet, but i'm really loving To Kill a Mockingbird <3

Also I read the story of Gerty Cori in Nobel Prize Women in Science: Their Lives, Struggles, and Momentous Discoveries and she was awesome <3 This is a book i'm really loving and finding truly inspiring. I already read the story of Marie Curie, Lise Meitner and Emmy Noether and now Gerty Cori.

I'm still trying to finish out my challenge. I started My True Love Gave to Me: Twelve Holiday Stories last night for my Christmas book. I'm also in the middle of The Delta Anomaly and a bit of the way into A New Hope: The Princess, the Scoundrel, and the Farm Boy. I'm hoping to finish all of these this week plus one more!

Read 100 pages of House of Leaves and listened to 2 hours of Red Dragon. It's a good start!

message 35: by Jody (new)

Jody (jodybell) | 531 comments In Cold Blood is fantastic - I really enjoyed it!

I got to 195 pages yesterday, spread out over 6 (?!) books. I finished Casino Royale, read a bit more of a couple I have on the go, and started three new ones.

I had a busy work day yesterday so I was only to read a little bit before bed

Midnight by Dean Koontz - 35 pages

It's getting really good so hopefully I can read a ton tonight!

Michelle (girlvsbook) | 403 comments Mod
I also had to work yesterday (last night, actually, I'm just getting home from work now) and had to squeeze my reading in where/when I could. I managed to get 90 pages of My True Love Gave to Me: Twelve Holiday Stories read. I am working tonight also so I'll squeeze in what I can today too! :)

message 38: by Francesca (new)

Francesca | 391 comments My goal for this week is to finish the book I'm currently reading and start my next book. I'd ideally like to finish that one too but I won't be disappointed if I don't. Yesterday I didn't manage to get much reading done as I went to do some Christmas shopping with my Mum during the day and then in the evening I wasn't feeling very well so while I was trying to read, I kept dozing off and ended up having to succumb and have a nap. I feel fine today though so when I get home from work, and possibly on my journey home, I plan to do a lot of reading.

message 39: by Michelle (last edited Dec 01, 2015 04:45AM) (new)

Michelle (mich2689) | 122 comments I listened to about two hours of The Count of Monte Cristo and started and finished The Old Man and the Sea today. I think I'll go on to The Alchemist now.

message 40: by Veena (new)

Veena (veena_singh) | 9 comments I just finished reading a Christmas Carol. Such a wonderful book! Hats off to the author! I think it is safe to say that I fell in love with all the characters in the book. Especially the ghost of the present. And scrooge himself! Sometimes all people need is a glimpse of future to change their past.

message 41: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (mich2689) | 122 comments I definitely want to read A Christmas Carol. I don't think it's on my TBR list yet so I'm adding it.

message 42: by Nicole (new)

Nicole I finished Little Altars Everywhere yesterday, although I was halfway through with the book when the read-a-thon started.

Just began to read Mouseheart (50 pages in) and I'm already in love with the characters! So happy to be reading something light and easy. Lately I've been struggling to get through books, so this is a nice change of pace.

Jody (jodybell) | 531 comments I'm planning on reading A Christmas Carol on Christmas Eve this year! I can't wait.

Victoria | 4 comments For this readathon I'm trying to finish books I've already started. So far this week is not going as well as I would have liked. Today I was only able to listen to a few chapters of Life of Pi and Big Little Lies while cleaning, and read a couple chapters of Fire and Ice.

I am also hoping to finish The Shadow of the Wind this week since I only have about 3 hours left in that audiobook.
