I'm with you on that, Deborah. I saw the first entry on the list and thought, "I don't know..." But I committed anyway! I've been told there are lots of horror books which aren't graphic or terrifying. We shall see. ;)

Let me know what you pick for that category! I'd love to try and find some new favorites in a genre I traditionally shy away from.

message 60: by Pat (new)

Pat Bryan | 98 comments Try short stories-The Year's Best Fantasy and Horror series by Ellen Datlow and now The Year'Best Horror and Dark Fantasy ed.Paula Guran have a wide range of subjects-including poetry. They also have reviews of the best novels/films/tv series.....

Jackie B. - Death by Tsundoku (reiwing2040) | 1343 comments Thanks for the recommendation, Pat! That's a great place to start. I think I'll even try to read horror first so if I enjoy it I can keep reading throughout the year.

message 62: by Pat (new)

Pat Bryan | 98 comments I've read a couple of novels that could "slide under"the horror banner-Rooms-ghosts hanging about-The Girl who would talk for the Dead-lovely story about why people need mediums.
I also cant stand slasher horror-it's come a long way from Tales of Terror!!!!!!
