Welcome, Claire! And best of luck on your LOST books!
Am sure these dusty books appreciate that some love are coming their way ;)

Blarneygod | 221 comments Woot! I've read one book from this challenge! This is a better start than last year. Eight Cousins by Louisa May Alcott was a very enjoyable read. I look forward to now reading the sequel, Rose in Bloom, also on my challenge list:)

Yay onya, Blarneygod!
My goal is 1 lost book/ month so I'm doing well so far :)

Hi Ashley! You've got a lot of non-fiction on your list. How is the challenge coming so far?

Just to encourage you, I recently finished this book and I was honestly surprised at how well it kept my attention. I finished it much quicker than I thought I would as well. Some parts definitely drag, but it wasn't really what I was expecting. Good Luck!

message 61: by Coralie (new)

Coralie | 1658 comments Finally finished one. It was the longest on my list so the others should come nice and quickly, shouldn't they?

LynnB | 1760 comments I just finished another one: 8. Rising Tide: The Great Mississippi Flood of 1927 and How It Changed America by John M. Barry, Non-Fiction, read 8 April 2016. Very interesting, but it jumped around somewhat.

message 66: by Martha (last edited Dec 11, 2016 02:01PM) (new)

Martha (marthais) This is a great idea, I definitely choose newer books from my TBR (or ignore it completely and go to the library!)

My 10 oldest (that I own):
1. The Curious Incident of the Dog In the Night-time
2. The Psychology of Religion: A Short Introduction
3. The Three Emperors: Three Cousins, Three Empires and the Road to World War One
4. The 2 1/2 Pillars of Wisdom
5. Life After Life
6. The Almost Nearly Perfect People: Behind the Myth of the Scandinavian Utopia
7. A Man Called Ove
8. Pride and Prejudice - completed 31/07/16
9. Catch-22
10. Vanity Fair

Update! I had a clear out and then got given some books that are really old on my TBR so that changes the list I think! :)

1. The Help - completed 16th Nov 16
2. The Curious Incident of the Dog In the Night-time - completed 30th Nov 16
3. The Children's Book
4. Animal Farm
5. The Little Prince - completed 22/10/16
6. The Psychology of Religion: A Short Introduction
7. Life After Life - completed 9/12/16
8. The Almost Nearly Perfect People: Behind the Myth of the Scandinavian Utopia
9. A Man Called Ove - completed 06/10/16
10. Pride and Prejudice - completed 31/07/16

Welcome, Martha! Good luck with your LOST list... I've read half of them & never heard of the other half. Some of them looks like heavy reading though especially The Three Emperors and I know some of us struggled so badly with Anna Karenina. I'd suggest you start with the easiest looking read & shortest which I think could be, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. That was pretty good read too :)

message 68: by Martha (new)

Martha (marthais) Thanks Tien! Haha yes I did start to get less enthusiastic as I worked my way down the list - they've been on my TBR the longest for a reason! My attitude tends to be give it 100 pages, and I'm still not loving it, it gets abandoned - life's too short! So we might find this list changing, but at least it's a good way of reducing the TBR one way or another! :)

Bea | 5272 comments Mod
Martha, let me know how you like Anna Karenina. My copy is 634 pages long, and I am on page 406. It is slow reading for me due to all the Russian names and multiple characters (some with different names), so I read it on my Kindle at night when I can't sleep.

message 70: by Bea (new)

Bea | 5272 comments Mod
I have only 4 more books to go for my 2016 LOST list, so I got curious about the next 10. That led me to determine how many books on my TBR were added in 2011, the year my current LOST books are from. 308! Of course that still is counting the 6 still to be read (2 from 2014 list and 4 from 2016 list).

Oh my! I will be reading that year's listings for YEARS!

Bea, I'm still working on 2009! I added heaps from some lists so I'm weeding through it slowly ;p

Although I joined in 2008, I only listed one book read until 2010. So, I think all these books were my first attempt to really start using this site. I sure was gungho. :)

message 75: by Bea (new)

Bea | 5272 comments Mod
I've done six, Lusie. However, one of my books to go is over 1000 pages, so I think I will save it for last.

message 76: by Charity (new)

Charity | 577 comments I've only done 2 so far, but with only 10 on my list I don't consider myself behind, especially since I've made so much progress on other challenges.

I've done 3 of 10, Lusie, and one of mine that I haven't read yet is 656 pages of short stories. So I'm sort of behind. But, really, anything we do is good. I don't think you should worry about it too much.

message 78: by Tien (new)

Tien (tiensblurb) | 9029 comments Mod
I'd say you're making very good progress, Lusie. I've only read 4 so far & I plan on reading 1 Lost book per month so I've still got to read my May/Lost book :)

It turns out I don't even own Anna Karenina! I psyched myself to dive in and literally don't have it. So unfortunately that's gone off the list (my TBR is only books I own to try and shrink that!). How are you getting on with it?

If you have a Kindle or other digital reading device, you can get Anna Karenina for free on Amazon. They have a lot of classics for free or super cheap.

Actually feeling like I will finish it. My problem is that I do not like Anna or her part of the story. However, I am sympathetic to another of the couples in the story (Kitty and Levin), which keeps me reading. So far I have completed 82% of the book. Not sure if I will complete it this month as I have a lot of books to finish before the end of May, but definitely next month.

It's June and I'm 5/10 done so am still tracking well on LOST :)

The only year so far that I'm really discipline in reading 1 book per month! If I keep this up, I won't have to rush through the list in October lol

Nicki (luluminstrel) | 65 comments Hi! I just joined this group and I really need to do this. I have books from 2009 to read! I've actually read two of my oldest TBRs already this year but I'm not going to count those. Let's see how many I can get though!

Thanks Tien!

Yes - a few big ones and a bit of a mixture. I definitely want to read them soonish, even if I don't get round to them all this year. There are lots more to work through though - I'm sick of seeing '2009' on the date added!! :)

Welcome, Nicki! Even if you do not finish your list this year, you can continue to work on it, add to it, or scrap it in 2017. This is an ongoing challenge for this group.

I personally have 2 books left for this year's list...and 2 books from my 2014 list to complete. My goal is to start 2017 completely caught up on LOST!

message 92: by Dree (new)

Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All-American Meal - Eric Schlosser

The Things They Carried - Tim O'Brien
