Martha (marthais) Finally finished my first one - Pride and Prejudice! Still behind schedule, ah well.

Bea how are you getting on with Anna Karenina?

Blarneygod thanks for the suggestion! I'm trying (and doing terribly) not to buy any more books until I've gone through all the ones I own, so might have to wait a while before I do that!

I finished it, Martha. Not the best book I have read but I did not totally hate it. I gave it 2* because I did not like Anna, her character, her morals, or her story.

I've started to read my 6th LOST book this morning. I've put on my list 4 books of a series & have only managed to read 1 to date. I thought I could binge-read them but I'm dragging my heels! Not that it's a particularly bad series but I think I'm realising that I'm just not a series-binge-reader... I think I may replace 2 of the books (move them on to 2017) with something else :p

I know what you mean. I recently, though I do not know what possessed me, knocked off 3 library books of John D. MacDonald's Travis McGee series. Easy, fun reads...but a bit too much at one time.

20 books in 3 months? Ambitious! I like it :D

Btw, did you fit these with Trim too? You can crossover between the 2, if you like.

Nearly finished! At least I will finish today - only 36 pages left to read in my last LOST book for this year. I still have 2 books from LOST 2014 to read; otherwise, LOST is done!

I just want to shout that I AM PROUD OF MYSELF for finishing that huge book (The Instructions)in less than a month. I am so intimidated by HUGE books. What an accomplishment that feels! And, what a good way to end my LOST 2016. YIPPEE!

I'm way behind on posting here, I think. But I finally finished the HUGE one on my list, The Collected Stories of Greg Bear , which puts me at 6/10 completed. Still behind schedule, but not quite as much.

I checked and one of the lost books I've already read was 994 pages. So I don't need encouraging to add thick books.

I started Metro 2033 , and decided I didn't like it enough to be worth the time it would take to read it. Marking it as off my list. That makes 7/10, so maybe I'm actually on track.

With 2 months left, how is everyone else going with their LOST list?

I did very well in the first half of the year but am now behind with 4 books to go. I started 1 of them on Wed but am feeling burnt out from the Olympics challenge so haven't really been feeling like reading much of anything :/

I think I'm going to go on my reserve list and find some shorter reads to complete LOST and use the rest in 2017.

Blarneygod | 221 comments Cecile wrote: "Congratulations Blarneygod! What did you think of it?"

I hated the first half of this book (Great Expectations). During the first half, I complained bitterly and wondered why I was reading such a dull, drawn out book, with characters that were so horrible to each other... But it did pick up a bit during the second half of the book, more seemed to happen. I read the second half of this book much faster than the first. I still only gave this book 2 stars because I was bored through most of it... But if I were to look at the book on a educational level instead of a entertainment level, I would say it makes interesting insights on human nature and the division and prejudices among social classes. I am not looking forward to my next Dickens novel, but am determined to read a few more anyway.

message 142: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1217 comments I've managed half of the list so far. I still hope to finish the challenge, but its not the end of the world if I don't. I did manage to remove some books that I had no intention of reading at all. Its interesting how my reading tastes change over time.

I just finished one more, Future Hope. Good riddance! I don't know why I wasn't able to stop in the middle, because I certainly did not enjoy it.

That leaves just one left, The End of Marking Time. I rarely manage to complete my LOST list, but this year might be the exception.
