This folder is for books that are on the New York Times book bestseller list.

What's popular with the masses? Try a book from the list and see what the fuss is. If you're borrowing books from your library, there could be a long waiting list! Place your request early.

Please share your suggestions, or any resources you've used to help find your book for this category in this thread.

Frogli | 118 comments So is this for a book currently on the list or one that has been on the list at some point (and so helpfully has 'NYT best seller' plastered on the cover)?

Helpful link for the current ones btw

message 3: by á (new)

á Lopes (silkcaramel) I'm reading The Girl On The Train for this one! I got it from Christmas and can't wait to start.

Amanda | 229 comments I am going to read "The Grown Up" by Gillian Flynn. I choose two of her books for the 2015 challenge and really enjoyed her writing.

message 5: by Teresa (new)

Teresa Kander I'll be reading See Me

I'm reading this for this category as well.

message 8: by Amy Beth (new)

Amy Beth Add me to the list of those reading The Girl on the Train for this!

message 9: by Len (new)

Len (lenmacabre) I am considering reading The Walking Dead, Compendium 1 for this category. This has been well rated and suggested to me numerous times.

message 10: by Ann-Marie (new)

Ann-Marie (amsjob) I have The Bone Clocks by David Mitchell waiting on my shelve.

message 11: by Margo (new)

Margo (dandylines) Interpreter of Maladies / The Namesake
Just because I already have it and it sounds very interesting.

message 12: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teremazon) I will choose The Edge of Never by J A Redmerski, as it has been in my TBR for way too long and it is time I give it a chance.

I couple of group buddies have also recommended the Mount TBR challenge, and I have not wasted any time in joining. This is just what I need, to clean the decks. I think this book has been in my kindle since publication.

Did we ever get an answer for this question? I would also like to know this.

message 14: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teremazon) I think it is for a book that has been on the list at any time, otherwise it would be too restrictive.

message 15: by Sarah (new)

Sarah I'm going to read Gone Girl... There is so much hype and I have been wanting to read the book before I see the movie... I hope it lives up to all the hype!

I read her other books but didn't know she had a new one. Thanks! :)

Nathalie Vercammen | 8 comments I am reading The Storyteller for this list. It's a grievous one.

message 18: by Peabody (new)

Peabody I am reading The Rogue Lawyer by John Grisham.
I have read most of his books, and while so far it is really good I don't think it will be one of my favorites.

Gabriella Andén fd rehbinder | 10 comments Was so Happy to find Fredrik Backman's "A man called Ove" on the list! A book which has been a bestseller here in Sweden for ages, my husband (who is not an avid reader) read at least two yrs ago and which is now a movie!

Cyndy (cyndy-ksreader) | 231 comments Teresa wrote: "I think it is for a book that has been on the list at any time, otherwise it would be too restrictive."

That's the theory I am going with, after all, it doesn't say current.

message 21: by Teri (new)

Teri | 1 comments My first book of 2016 was Room, by Emma Donoghue. I liked it, but had a hard time believing parts of it. It must have translated well to a screen play, the movie is doing pretty good!

message 22: by Paula (new)

Paula P | 48 comments I read the book a while back and watched the movie just recently, it does translate well but it's not as good as the book and is more about the outside time than in room

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

I had a hard time getting through the setting of the book, but I persevered thinking it might be a study in completing a book by a male author to the end.

Thinking back (1 month later), It seems like the movie It's a Wonderful Life. Any thoughts?

message 24: by Sharmon (new)

Sharmon (tpgirl) I am reading The Rosie Project for this one. It would also work for Australia or debut novel.

message 25: by Katie (new)

Katie | 15 comments I would highly recommend The Silent Girls by Eric Rickstad for this category. I just finished it and it was a really addictive read.

message 26: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (jessicamdawn) | 19 comments If you've just finished something heavy, or you want a break for whatever reason, I recently found out that a book my mother gave me for my birthday as a sort of joke is a NYT Bestseller. It's called I Could Pee on This And Other Poems by Cats. It's basically a bunch of short poems from the perspective of cats. It's funny and a really quick read. Definitely a recommendation for cat lovers, cat OWNERS especially.

message 27: by Mary Sue (new)

Mary Sue I chose The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test for this task - 1968 NYT Best Seller. I did not like it much
