Nicole R (drnicoler) | 8079 comments But, let me add that while we only add books to our PBT bookshelf that fit the monthly tag or a PBT hosted challenge (so your Black Heritage Month book would not be shelved), we still want to read your review! So, be sure to post it in the folder for books that do not fit the monthly tag. You'll also get a participation point for it.

Cynda is preoccupied with RL (cynda) I selected a book--Interpreter of Maladies--for the Asia tag. I went to "Currently Reading" and tried to add the book. But it seems I cannot because this book was used for a previous group read of Short Stories. Is this right? Or am I doing something wrong?

JoLene (trvl2mtns) | 1532 comments The way that you add a book to the group bookshelf is that you click on bookshelf. We only use the "read" shelf for our group books since these are the books that have been read for the tag.

When you click on bookshelf, it will show a list of the books read. Up in the top right corner it says Add Books with a box under it. You will type in the book (example Interpreter of Maladies). When you do this it brings up another list of books.

If someone has already add the book to the group bookshelf, it will say "edit" in the button. If you are the first person to add, the button will say "add to group".

Then you will see a new smaller pop-up that says "Edit Group Book". Under book, you can see all the shelves that it is on. You can add another shelf by clicking on the "choose shelves" link which will give you the list of potential shelves that have already been created. Please do not create a shelf because Librarian Cindy does that administrative part.

You also should not fill in the start, finish or discussion folders --- they can be left blank.

I have added this book to the asia shelf for you.

LibraryCin | 11476 comments Thanks, JoLene, for explaining. I was offline (except on facebook at lunch today) for almost a full 24 hours, so I didn't see that until now! :-)

I've also created step-by-step instructions, in case it helps anyone out. I can copy/paste them here. Except at the moment, I have a cat in front of my monitor, so I can't quite see what I'm typing. Might come back in a bit to add. .. :-)

LibraryCin | 11476 comments So, I'm pretty much saying what JoLene said, but in a different way. Again, so however is easier for people to follow, here it's just laid out another way. :-)

1. From the PBT home page, click on "bookshelf" on the right side of the page.

2. In the search box on the left (just under where it says "Play Book Tag"), type in the title of the book you want to add.

3. If the book is already on the shelf, it will be greyed out, BUT you can still click the Edit button. If the book is not on our shelf, click the "Add to Group" button. It will open a pop-up window.

4. There is a link in the pop-up to "choose shelves". Click that.

5. The tags/shelves are listed in two columns, in alphabetical order. Select Asia. (It is ok if there are other tags/shelves selected, as well. So, to answer your second question, it doesn't matter that another tag is selected for the book; go ahead and add Asia (or for future, whatever tag (or challenge: "PBT Decathlon" or :Listopia") you've read the book for))

6. Close the tag window (click "close").

7. Click the "save group book" button at the bottom of the pop-up window.

And voila! Your book is saved under that tag!
