Summer, what's the genre or tone - YA/children fantasy, horror, funny, etc.?
Do the twin brothers live in contemporary Earth (location) or a fantasy world (please describe)?
Do the twin brothers live in contemporary Earth (location) or a fantasy world (please describe)?

It's set in a normal modern world, and I am pretty certain it was a city or town in England. I don't remember exactly how the magic happened - maybe there was something with lightning? - but the kid is completely baffled when his hand turns into a firecracker, and worries about life with only one hand.
It felt grimmer in tone than most of the kid adventure stuff I read at that age, but I don't think it was outright horror. The plot involved the various schemes the twin tried with the protagonist's hand, and the protagonist was worried the entire time, and the twin was very clearly being selfish. At the end the protagonist's hand was normal again, so I guess it had a happy ending?

Done. I clicked the "edit" beside the topic header (this only works on the desktop website). Here's the Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ link - Twin and Super-Twin by Gillian Cross.

Through some sort of magic, a boy can turn his twin brother's hand into different things - I definitely remember it being a firecracker at one point, and the twin being sad about having a firecracker hand forever and worrying about it getting wet, and I think perhaps it turned into stuff like a snake and a sausage? At the end of the book, the magic wore off, and the twin with the magic hand was relieved, because his brother was not being nice about using it.
