The Hired Girl - Laura Amy Schlitz
The MC runs away from home and ends up working for a well-to-do Jewish family in Baltimore in the early 1900s. There is a great deal of information about Jewish laws and life that the MC has to learn and much talk of religion since she was raised Catholic and the only Jewish people she'd known about before were characters in Ivanhoe. The majority of characters in the book are Jewish -- both Orthodox and Reform.
