I've been wanting to read this. I love the other Timothy Zahn books I've read.

Thank you! This will actually be my first Stephen King book... so you'll have to explain the 19 reference once we get the thread. :)

message 7607: by Nirkatze (new)

Nirkatze | 18712 comments So, I know a lot of folks gave up on Black Jewels with the newest releases, but is anyone interested in reading The Queen’s Price sometime after it comes out 3/7? Earlier or later?

message 7608: by Monika (new)

Monika | 2151 comments Peeps I'm hell of behind with Buddy Reads stuff, I realised I have 'The blade itself' and ' The wisdom of crowns' by Joe Abercrombie and 'The consumer's by Brandon Sanderson from old BR and I never had a chance to read them. I'm also curious who finished book 2 of Demon Cycle and had no time last year to read books 3,4 and 5 cause I want to finish the series... In some point I do The lost metal and hopefully start WoT series...

message 7609: by Charlie (new)

Charlie (charlieridley) | 5750 comments @monika, Siobhan and I are also hoping to do The Lost Metal at some point this year if you want to join us.

Siobhan (poi5ongirl) | 8699 comments @Monika we'll definitely read Lost Metal with you.

And re Abercrombie - please read all of First Law before Wisdom of Crowds 😄 I wish I had time to reread or else I'd join you!!

message 7613: by Charlie (new)

Charlie (charlieridley) | 5750 comments @Monika @Siobhan I think right now we're planning Lost Metal for some time in March maybe but we'll update this thread closer to the time when we have a date.

@Nirkatze: your first Stephen King book?? It won't be your last, I promise you that :) His earlier work is still the greatest, but the recenter work are also master pieces.

Here's our thread. I posted a link which explains a little of the 19 ref.

message 7626: by Monika (new)

Monika | 2151 comments Iain, can we use book threads in Abercrombie folder for our 'First Law' BR with girls without making new ones? I think that could be easier, we could ammend the date on it or something...

You can, but Yanique asks that you still put in the Form Requests... just mention that you want to reuse the old threads in the Special Instructions... this is so the new BRs will appear in the List of Future Buddy Reads

message 7628: by Monika (new)

Monika | 2151 comments Iain, thank you for info. Request sent. Paula, Silvana I asked for Feb 1st to start with 'The blade itself' and follow the rest of the series with using old treads, so we wait for mods approval and start if you, Paula, are ok with it and Silvana joining us when we reach Best Served Cold :) Sorry for grammar and spelling girls LOL!

Hi Everyone!

T'is your friendly neighborhood Threadmster here to remind you to:

1. Make a separate request for each book in a series that you want to set up BRs for. Every book needs its own request, and upcoming/current BRs need new threads.

2. Use the format that Iain mentioned which includes the series name and number.

3. Please double check the date (especially the year) you are requesting the reads for. I can manually make the threads with the correct year, but the form autopopulate the data on our master sheet. Your BR you requested for 2003 may be lost in the ether...

Our entire system (which works beautifully) is based on those request forms, so please use the above guidelines.

Thank you!

I did new requests for whole First Law series, separate for each book.

I'll check later how we can catch up with WoT, I think guys are around book 12 now. Who knows maybe in some point we will be able to join in in one of uncoming ones LOL! I'm not sure if I'll be able to start book 1 this week, but I think we need new BR request for others to join if they wish to and have enough time to read First Law in between :)

Rob (nefariasbredd) | 2418 comments Anyone interested in reading KJ Parker's Sixteen Ways to Defend a Walled City this year? Physical, kindle, and audio book have been filling my TBR for quite a bit now!

If I like it (and I'm pretty sure it is right up my alley), I'd continue on through the series.

There are actually readalongs going on YouTube for both these series. There will be liveshow talking about each book.

The announcement and for both readalongs can be found here if anyone is interested:

First Law:

WoT:

I would have liked to do both but that is way too much pressure for me even at a 1 every two month time frame. I'm planning on loosely joining in with the WoT one but since the first book was for December/January and I will probably be a bit behind for the first few books

I worked on the threads for this series, but after looking at those older threads, I will make new threads for the new BR of this series for organization and the make sure the threads are open to new readers and separate from comments left by previous readers.
Those new threads will be up today.

@Iain can you please manually put in the series name and numbers for the First Law series requests in the FBR spreadsheet? Thanks

message 7648: by Paula (new)

Paula (paula7) | 1651 comments Monika, yeah, requesting new (or renamed) threads for WoT is a good idea. Don't worry if you can't start so soon the first book, I'm in no rush, I still haven't even finished book two

Hailee, that's nice, thanks. I'll check later those links in my computer since I can't open them in my phone
