Maybe mid/late November start."
Margret and I have both read it. She liked it more than I did but we both agree it has that late 60's hippy psychedelic feel to it.
Thanks for starting the discussion about it.

The thread is already set up so you can head over there whenever. :)

When the Heavens Fall
Dragon Hunters
Red Tide
You can read books 1 & 2 in any order, they are set at the same time in different places.

I definitely want to read this series but my Nov is full.

Awesome covers too!
As far as reading it goes - my reading schedule is pretty much set until mid-February... yes, I cannot believe that myself either.

This looks so interesting! It is on my TBR but I will not be able to join in November - stupid reading slump basically postponed my reads of about a month...
Dang, I would also like to read this, but really don't have time for it until I finish at least one series I am reading now.

The Name of the Wind
The Wise Man's Fear
The Slow Regard of Silent Things (optional short story)

Yes, it's a solid 4 star series with some quality moments with excellent story-telling, but also a few repetitions that can be annoying. I don't have that many fantasy series that I can recommend without at least some sort of warning or comment but this is one. Classic fantasy with several twists. Great story building, overall plot and character development.

Welcome. There's a KKC folder where you can go to kick off a buddy read. Somebody had wanted to start the series at one point but then she disappeared. People usually propose a start date, garner interest and there it begins. Good luck and welcome.

The first book is a bit of a struggle for the first two-thirds. The last third and the following two books are awesome. I think the thing most of us struggled with is the three main characters aren't compelling. Then all these great side characters develop and really drive the story. There's a folder and thread for all three books. The last two there's a lot of participation. You can hop on those and we'll all circle back and I bet you can find others to join.

You're on of the reviewers who when you don't like a series it doesn't necessarily write it off for me but when you do like one it does mean I click want to read. Picky Bastard! :)

Thanks buddy. Work weeks that sometimes are into 90+ hours makes you picky. At least all the airport and flying time gives some time to read, but it sets the demands for entertainment quite high.

I don't blame you. I've got much better at just accepting a book sucks and not plowing through feeling a DNF is my failure and not the author's.

Thanks for the info Scott!
Edit:
I checked it out and the discussion area seems to be pretty empty if I'm looking in the right place: /topic/group...
I'm not sure where exactly you want me to put my buddy invite. I had thought this discussion was more for general purpose.

Yes as I said somebody had started the topic and then disappeared. Usually when I start a read I just post when I'm looking to start and see if there are any takers. I think part of the issue with books like NOTW is a lot of the avid readers of this genre have read it already.

Yes I think most of us have read NOTW already. I would love to do a reread, but am waiting until the third one is at least somewhere on the horizon. It's one of my favorites though. :)

Jarek I enjoyed this trilogy as well. Well written and plenty of plot twists. Plus a couple of great characters who really get you absorbed in the story.

Thanks Jarek I'll think about it. That's one of Sanderson's books that I had not added to my list. Whenever you read Chronicles of the Unhewn Throne I will definitely join you.

I've read it already. I really liked it and I wish that the third book would get finished. At this point I'm beginning to believe that will ever happen!

Planning to start Monday 28th November. Join me!

I'm glad you enjoyed the series! Gives me a little relief as I feared the second book (and the 2.5 book) would not live up to The Name of the Wind. I'm nearly 30% through it, on my second read through, and I am so in love with it! The words paint the most detailed picture in my head :)

The Name of the Wind
Uprooted
If anyone is interested in reading one of those, let me know.

I would read the next Robin Hobb series if you enjoy Farseer. I've been looking for someone to buddy with. I would also talk about Farseer :)

I would do GreatCoats but couldn't start until March and would want to do a schedule such as one book a month starting around the 22nd of the month. I already have early and mid-month commitments.

I have been curious about these book I don't mind read these with you

Anni I've read both of these and enjoyed them. We have The Greatcoats starting near the end of March if you can wait that long? Link below to the thread.

Anyone interested in reading a first in series by Fiona McIntosh mid January?
EitherRoyal Exile or Betrayal
Also Empire in Black and Gold in March or April? Scott I know we discussed one time reading this one. Unsure if you were still interested as your reading tracker looks pretty full.

Oh thanks, I guess it will take some time for me to get around all those threads :D

I still have interest but probably not until summer so don't wait for me if you can get a group.

I would be up for any of these - I just need to be mindful of what else is happening. In January we have Promise of Blood and potentially following books. There are also a couple of "big" books at the end of December (Uprooted and The Spider's war) and in February at least the Warded Man.
I just need to decide what I want to focus on I guess - sorry about the usual reference to my personal struggle on the TBR topic.
Scott I don't mind waiting until summer for Empire in Black and Gold as it's a first in series anyway. How about I write it on my Tracker for maybe July and make a note to follow up with you?
Aristea I understand that struggle all too well. How about March or April for a Fiona McIntosh book? I can do the same as I could do with Scott and just make a note in my tracker to follow up with you closer to the time?
