I have a flight in a week and will have to show up to the airport in crutches, which sucks, but I might get driven around in their little carts and then get priority boarding, which doesn’t suck 😃 Trying to stay positive lol

Thanks for the love, all ❤️

Positivity helps...

Sorry if I derailed the conversation with my own woes... just meant heal up good and don't compound the problem with followup injuries :)

OOh, I had foot surgery not long before a flight, and they totally like, drove me everywhere and I got priority boarding and everything and it was awesome. Fingers crossed!

Today I’ve been wearing my special boot everywhere and it makes SUCH a difference. Yesterday I was almost in tears cuz I couldn’t figure out my crutches and couldn’t put any weight on it and it hurt so bad. But the boot is letting me limp walk so at least I’m mobile. I’m also very very thankful it was my left foot so I can still drive with my dominant right foot.

Diana Stormblessed (dashichka) | 5253 comments I know this isn’t really the right venue for this, but I have nowhere else to gush. After 8 months of playing, I finally just finished Final Fantasy XVI. For those who don’t play, Final Fantasy is a brand of role playing video games. They’re mostly stand alone with some intertwined elements. This one is written like a fantasy novel. I love the franchise because they do focus so much on the story aspect, but this one’s story is just amazing. It’s better than so many fantasy novels I’ve read. And the game play is pretty easy compared to other games. Anyway, I just want to gush about this story and how much I loved it and how I cried at the end. Two thumbs up.

LOL I feel that... I have horrible track record finishing games... I'd get close to the ending and then wander off... if I didn't finish, the story doesn't end right? Took me 10 years to get to the end of FFVIII, and I've still not finished FFIX even though it's my favorite....

message 6264: by Marie (new)

Marie Chalupová (levitara) | 657 comments I hear you, some of my favorite games I have never finished even if I put a lot of time into them... Started playing recently Skyrim again to finally finish the main story. I don't have high hopes I will manage tho... The Witcher 3 is next on the list. I get too tangled in side quests and cleaning out the map...

I've got games with 100s of hours I've never finished (and I'm ignoring my idle games with 1000s of hours, mostly AFK / running 24/7)...

Terraria, Siralim, etc... big collectathon/explore games with lots to enjoy with little chance of 100%ing...

Skyrim generally fits that mold, too... any game that supports modding, in general, really...

message 6266: by Nirkatze (new)

Nirkatze | 18712 comments Ditto on Skyrim... I still haven't finished the main story either... nor Morrowind, nor Oblivion... though I got close on Oblivion.

The first game I finished was Dragon Age I--I remember I was at a friend's house--we used to just hang out and everyone do their own thing in a room together--and my friends applauded when I finished, lol. The Bioware games make up most of the fingers for games I've finished... Dragon Age I & II but not III, Mass Effect 1 & 2 but not 3...

message 6267: by Marie (new)

Marie Chalupová (levitara) | 657 comments I only finished Dragon's Age II. I think Mass Effect 1 and 2. 3 I am not sure if I did or I just watched my brother finish it. I finished Terraria, Divinity II: Ego Dragonis, Titan Quest, Diablo III, DMC 3 and 4, Dragon's Dogma, Dishonored, Assassins Creed 2. I guess there are quite a few when I start thinking about it... It just bugs me that many times I haven't finished the prequels or sequels, or those games that I spent so much time on and never finished.

My list is pretty much the 4 Bioware games and FF8. Oh, and an old 16 bit game called Castle of the Winds. I loved that game, played it so many times.

Nirkatze, so glad it's not just me! I literally have a character I created specifically to not get distracted and finish the main quest. Of course, naturally I keep getting distracted...

message 6271: by Marie (new)

Marie Chalupová (levitara) | 657 comments Skyrim is just game built on constant distractions. Also what can I do but go directly to Riften if my bag gets full of stolen stuff... And then they make me start the thief quest line... Also I just cannot start the game as any other class but stealth archer...

message 6272: by Nirkatze (last edited Apr 03, 2025 01:05AM) (new)

Nirkatze | 18712 comments LOL OMG me too! Must be stealth archer!!

I think I got to the point in the main storyline where I had to either join a crazy cult or kill the nice dragon and I was like nope, I'm going to just do side quests....

Plus, all of those stolen goods are really so I can finance a home in every city...

message 6273: by Marie (new)

Marie Chalupová (levitara) | 657 comments I remember one playthrough I finally climbed up the mountain and then got as far as the Thalmor Embassy quest lol. As for stealing, well, I always take it that the people owe me some taxes for saving the world, right? I mean good equipment is not cheap 😁

I barely started making quest progress in my recent game and I am already pickpocketing people out of their clothes lol. Now I am severely under skilled and just the first Bleak Falls Barrow boss was a challenge 😂 Good that I am stealth archer or I would have to go back for more health potions or lower the difficulty. I guess I am paying the price for my sins lol.

Saar The Book owl | 2953 comments I've been having the worst 6 weeks ever and things seems not to be improving...I'm behind on all of my reading, including BR's in different groups. All because of bad feet.
6 weeks ago I woke up with lots of pain on the bottom of both feet. Stuborn as a mule I am, I continued to walk on them, but you had to see me walk: I couldn't put them down properly, couldn't stand on the back of both heels. After sitting down or sleeping, standing up and starting walking was hell. Last week I got an echo of both feet and last Monday I've had the verdict: sever tendonitis on both feet. I've got heavy anti - inflammatories and need to start physiotherapy. To make things worse, it could be months until a year until I'm completely pain free.
Sorry for the rant, but it has been affecting my reading mood, my general mood...

body mechanics in general... feet, heel/toe, knees, hips, shoulders, elbows, wrists/fingers...

Some parts of the body are just hard to completely leave alone and let heal, since you need to use at least a bit, to get through daily life... bathroom, eating, etc... unless you can afford some sort of full-on hospice care...

Oh no! What is it with feet lately? I'm also super behind in my reading cuz 3 weeks ago I stepped on a curb wrong and fractured my foot. I'm a dog walker and haven't been able to walk dogs, and that's when I do most of my audiobook listening, so I've fallen really far behind. I'm finally starting to walk again, though very slowly and short distances. But my recovery is much quicker than yours (only estimated to be 6-8 weeks). I'm so sorry for your pain. Taxes done with 50hrs to spare... I could have done them 2 months ago, but just been living my life and procrastinating, the Iain Way ;)

Not like I owed money or anything... based on last login/password change info in my password manager, I did them last year on April 10th...

And the year before I did them late because I procrastinated so long, only to find out my state tax website added extra security measures that required me to wait for a letter in the mail with a special code, because of some fraud issues... luckily, refunds don't have a hard deadline... state govt was like "take all the time you need, we'll just keep this $250 for ourselves as long as you want"

Procrastinating is almost nostalgic for me... it's how I got through K-12, and they always said it wouldn't work in college, but it did... lucky me... since I know/think there are plenty of people that reached college and had to study more...

I still like to bring up on occasion one of my bigger/sillier accomplishements, with one of the General Education courses... I think it was Human Physiology, but it could have been another random science class... attendance was a small part of the grade, all the slides were on the website, and you could do online pre-tests for extra credit... I only attended class like once a month for the tests and got an A, just had to spend like 6hrs the night before reading all the slides, taking all the pre-tests, and then going to class for the tests... extra credit cancelled out the attendance grades I was losing...

Of course... my bad habits are just one reason I don't miss college/school/homework :D

Probably... undiagnosed... like so many things... I definitely jump around alot, and reading so fast facilitates that...

I also like to plan things in spreadsheets, which I think is unrelated, but I can be both, right?... not like I follow my plans all the time... quick to alter on a whim...
