Started reading this last night. I always struggle with "most classics" as the writing styles often slow me down, but I hope to finish soon.

Lena, I had the exact same problem with this book. Halfway through I had decided to give it 3 stars, but I ended up giving it 4 because luckily the story is good and makes up some for the over-stuffed sentences. :)

I'm excited to read this and I found my copy in a used bookstore yesterday for £1- score!

I haven't read this novel in years! I am enjoying it once again!

read it for the first time earlier this year. totally get why most high schools require it for reading.

I really have wanted to read this forever. I hope I get to it before the end of the year!

I am reading this again this month because I just bought this very cool edition, with "leather-feeling" cover and anatomy clear pages and a centerfold! LOL,, but the illustrations are great!

I just looked up that edition on Amazon. It looks pretty amazing. If I had room on my bookshelves - well, I'll come back and consider after reading, if I love it so much I need to own it that's the one I'm going to buy.

I saw that there was a Kindle edition it would not be the same - no vellum feel, no leatherette. In this case the dead tree edition is clearly superior!

I hope you all have an enjoyable buddy read! I will not be joining because I personally hate this book with a passion, most especially the character Frankenstein.

If you enjoy it than I am glad it brought someone joy. Maybe I will learn something new from the discussion that will bring me to hate it a little less.

The whole "classics reimagined" series is amazing. I am collecting them all, the illustrations are amazing!

I actually ordered a copy of classics reimagined Alice in Wonderland because it's on the list of books I want to read/reread and I found it for a really good price on Ebay. I'll probably end up doing like you and collecting the whole series. Thank you for "enabling me!"

Best of luck to everyone on this read. I remember reading this one the first time around and I got most of the way through it but wasn't able to completely finish it. I wish you more luck than I had. Haha. I look forward to hearing what you all think of it.

There’s a second thread called something like Frankenstein SPOILERS where you can talk about anything you want about the content of the book. The conversation will move over there as more people start reading.

I actually didn’t start yet I’m trying to finish up the last few chapters of a library book that’s due on Monday with no renewals. I should be able to do that today.

I just started listening.

I will happily re-read this in October. This is one of my favorite books!

I'm really excited to read this for October. It'll be my first time reading it and I think I'll love it.

I was excited for this one because I haven't read it before. I decided to start listening to the audio for this one and man, I think it was a mistake and I should have just read it. I know there are several narrator variations for this story so maybe I just picked the wrong one? Idk. I'm about 1/3 of the way through and am STRUGGLING for sure. Hopefully that changes and I'll have good things to say in the spoilers thread hahaha. If not, you'll hear my rants there instead lol.

i am going to re-read this in october; i think the first time i read it i didn't really try to understand or appreciate the book so want to give it another go.

I will definitely read it this month, it will be my first time. I may go for the audiobook.

I'm a few pages in and I really like the writing style even though I'm reading a translation. Wanted to read this for years now ever since I know what it's really about.

I am through the letters and chapter 1. Interesting exposition, and I’m excited to keep going. I am enjoying the suspense of the author withholding information about something we have already seen, and giving little teasers.

I remember reading this in high school as part of coursework for English. I can remember the basic gist - especially after seeing it in the theatre with Benedict Cumberbatch as the monster!

Looking forward to seeing if I enjoy it as an adult.

I have been planning to read this for a while now, but I wanted to wait till the spooky season to read it.
First few pages in and already hooked thanks to the letters! Reminds me a little bit of Dracula in that way.

I actually read this in my mom's Chemistry II class when I was a senior, it's her favorite and we love Mary Shelley. So I'm excited to read it now as an adult and during Halloween.

I read this book a few years ago, I remember it being one of my favorites! I am going to reread it before the end of October.
