I'm with martin eden here. I like the characters, I admire them, but I don't fall in love with them. I like Four because I can relate to him - the same with Warner from Shatter Me. But that's all.

message 12: by Evie (new)

Evie Kuhl Not currently, but I used to have a huge crush on Drizzt Do'Urden. A dark elf, noble at heart but raised in a den of pure evil. He's so stinkin cute. I also loved Draco Malfoy, some time ago... still have a random pic of Tom Felton on my bathroom mirror, but that's just out of respect and admiration, now.

em~thatdemmedelusivemurderess~ (thatdemmedelusivemurderess) | 9 comments THIS IS MY FAVORITE SUBJECT EVER
In not at all this order:
Severus Snape - Harry Potter (DO YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY TO ME?)
REMUS BLOODY LUPIN - Also Harry Potter
DALLAS WINSTON - The Outsiders (DALLAS WINSTON, PEOPLE)
JOHNNY CADE - The Outsiders ((view spoiler))
SHERLOCK HOLMES - ALL the Sherlock Holmes (THE Sherlock Holmes, people, not Benedict Cumberbatch. Not that I have anything against Benedict Cumberbatch.)
MURTAGH MORZANSSON - The Inheritance Cycle ((view spoiler))
HALT WHO HAS NO LAST NAME - Ranger's Apprentice (THERE IS NO NEED TO MENTION THE AGE OF THIS MAN.)
GILAN WHO ALSO HAS NO LAST NAME AND IS ALSO FROM RANGER'S APPRENTICE
EUGENIDES! (allow me to repeat myself...)
EUGENIDES! - The Queen's Thief Series ((view spoiler))
VIDANRIC RENSELAEUS, MARQUIS OF SHEVRAETH YOU FOOLS - Crown & Court Duology
ROGER! or... GAHERIS? GARY!? - The Savage Damsel and the Dwarf which is part of The Squire's Tales (everybody needs a dwarf in their life)
*whimpers* newt? - Maze Runner series ((view spoiler))
...gonff... prince of... mousethieves... - Mossflower which is part of the Redwall series (look, I know he's a mouse, but I'm sure we can work around that.)
OH HEY SIRIUS ORION BLACK - Herrer Pertter
EdWARd fAIRfAX ROCHeSTeR - Jane Eyre ((view spoiler))
RHIENCE THE FOOL/MONK/KNIGHT/HEARTBREAKER - The Lioness and Her Knight which is from The Squire's Tales
SIR PERCY BLAKENEY - like 20 different books, but The Scarlet Pimpernel
MARK VAN RYKE - Leatherface (which is a really underappreciated book by the same fantastic baroness who wrote the 20 books about the scarlet pimpernel.)
RAFE MY POOR MISUNDERSTOOD BABY - The Books of Beginning
BEN. NOT JEFF. BEN. - The Tamarack Tree (I think you should know the first time I read that book, I somehow skipped over an entire section, so then at the end Jeff turns up waving and winking at Rosemary, and I'm sitting there like JEFF? WHO'S JEFF? WHY IS JEFF? DON'T YOU DARE, JEFF, THAT'S BEN'S TERRITORY.)
GETH THE LITHEN - Leven Thumps (FATE!)
PARSEFALL - Splendors and Glooms (DON'T TALK ABOUT HIS POOR LITTLE BEDWETTING SELF, OR HIS NIGHTMARES, OR HIS PINKY. HE'S BEAUTIFUL.)
NEDWIN - Beyonders (I don't really remember why, coz I swore I'd never read it again, and its been a few years... (view spoiler))
isaac - the forbidden library
JACOB CAMHERST - A Natural History of Dragons
TOM WILKER - A Natural History of Dragons

I swear this is not excessive. Fun fact: 38.46% of the people I love are dead.

message 42: by Derek (new)

Derek It's not really any sort of "love" or "romance", but I had this odd fascination with the character Tomomi Ishikawa (from the book Three Lives of Tomomi Ishikawa), and after reading that story I kind of want to be killed by her. Such a haunting, compelling story.

message 43: by Anna (last edited Apr 03, 2018 09:22AM) (new)

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 91 comments I'm an author and when writing my second published book I had intended to kill off a character. I couldn't - I fell in love with him. So did a book group who read the first 6 chapters for me and I realized that I could not kill him. I even love his dog.

And so he lives on and has become the hero of the trilogy. I'm not sure if other authors fall in love with their creations and I'll try not to do that again.

My heart goes out to Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights but in real life I might not feel the same.
