Hi everyone,

Welcome to Supporting Bookstores! Here is the section where new members can introduce themselves. Suggested information may include where you come from (country, state, county, city, etc.), what you like to read, the things you find important about book shopping, and you can also share links to where we can find you if you have a Booktube channel or blog.

I am Josh and I live in New Jersey in the United States. The thing I love most about book shopping is the hands on experience that comes with browsing through books and in addition to finding books I may have been looking for, coming across books I was not aware of before paying a visit. The ability to speak with like-minded people is also a delight and I really enjoy bookstores with passionate owners, sellers, or employees. I am also a supporter of small businesses in general and I feel that bookstores are no different.

My favorite genres include speculative fiction, horror, thriller, literary fiction, classics, short stories, poetry, historical nonfiction, nonfiction in general (especially in areas that I am interested), and anything else that catches my attention.

You can find me on Literary Gladiators, which is my Booktube channel where I engage in discussions with fellow Gladiators and also create individual content, which includes book hauls that concentrate on particular visits to bookstores.

You can find my channel here:

I hope everyone has a great time in this group and I look forward to hearing about all different bookstores from all different areas!

Michelle Ellis (michellislife) | 5 comments This is such a great group idea! I have found so many great used book stores in my area recently. I plan to actually film some interview and store tours as well with several of them.

Michelle Ellis (michellislife) | 5 comments As far as introductions go my name is Michelle. I have a YouTube channel at .
I plan on interviewing serval used book store owners in my area and giving small tours as well as small book hauls.
I'm located in southwest Florida and we have great book stores in my area. I really look forward to being a part of this great new community!! Josh is the best and this is such a great idea.

Sam (Green Eggs and Sam) (samrosebooks) | 1 comments Hey there!! I am excited to join this group!! I am Sam from Green Eggs & Sam (latest video here: )

I am from LA but living in NorCal for college. I am hoping to work at my campus bookstore!

I really love exploring bookstores in my hometown, college town, and whenever I travel. Just this summer I got to explore tons of different independent bookstores in Germany, Amsterdam, London, and some other European places so talk to meet about that! I would love to give recommendations for unique bookstores. One of my most prized possessions is in fact a map of all the indie bookstores in London.

Michelle, thank you so much for the kind words and I am really excited to hear about the bookstores in Southwest Florida! Perhaps I could plan out a vacation, knowing that there will be bookstores to shop at!

Sam, I really look forward to hearing about all of the bookstores you come across! Feel free to share them in the "Bookstores" discussion list, which I encourage all of the members to do, and I will continue to create a master list. A map of all of London's indie bookstores is definitely something worth owning. I have one for New Jersey, but not every store is on there.

Britt (girlonkindlefire) | 2 comments Hello everyone! My name is Britt and while i'm no stranger to books, I'm fairly new to the goodreads/Booktube community. Like Josh, I am from a small town in NJ. (that is overrun with Pizza places and Nail salons, and more recently over priced hair salons.) While my small town lacks a bookstore, a little ways down the road you can find a lovely little book store that FREQUENTLY holds signings of nearly almost if not all genres.
I'm currently a Broadcasting major. However, my 23 year old self has come to realize that 17 year old me really did not understand what Broadcasting actually was. So I'm frequently debating with myself if I want to just hold on a bit longer, and then switch to English Lit.
Prior to joining booktube, I almost exclusively YA. However, my tastes have expanded quite a bit in my short time on Booktube. I now find myself dabbling in things like NonFiction, Contemaprary, and historical fiction.
If you subscribe to my channel, you'll quickly discover that I'm a little obsessed with a series called "Game of Thrones." And yes, that also extends to The Song of Ice and Fire series written by George RR Martin. (I'm an Avid supporter of the most under appreciated hose in Westaros House Greyjoy)
I look forward to getting to know all of you! I'll leave my links down below if you would like to be friends, or just check out my channel. Either way is fine :)

Emily | 1 comments Hi! My name is Emily, and I live in Colorado. I like almost every genre, but I mostly read classics. I usually have to google book stores whenever I travel somewhere so I'm really happy that Josh has created this group! And I have a youtube channel too!

message 9: by Mara (new)

Mara (maraanne) | 3 comments Hello! I'm Mara (Miss Meddler, Book Dragoness; I answer to all three), and I live in Washington State (shoutout to anyone else who's from the Pacific Northwest)! I actually used to work at an indie bookstore for three years, before moving on to a job that's better at funding my book-buying habits. ;) No surprise, I'm also a book blogger/tuber (my blog is slowly being transformed into a channel only).

I always make a point to go bookshop exploring whenever I travel anywhere, be it local or to another state. Someday I actually hope to do a road trip where I hit various bookstores in various states.

My favorite part about book shopping? Well, to be honest, all of it. I love browsing through used bookstores, trying to find those hard-to-find books, or that one specific edition. I also adore browsing new bookstores, looking at fresh titles.

Welcome to everyone that has joined since I replied to your introductions. People have introduced me to bookstores from Florida, New Hampshire, and Washington state, and in Britt's case, reminded and encouraged me to visit a store in New Jersey. We are really filling in the map, which is exactly what I am hoping to accomplish with this group!

Mara, I like your intention to go on a road trip just to buy books. My department manager told me about the three-story Barnes & Noble in Baltimore and I had my mind set on going during one of my vacations and working it around that visit. I guess you can do that as a book lover!

I hope this group introduces you to so many new bookstores that may catch your attention as you plan your next vacation (which may very well be a bookish one)!

Left Coast Justin (leftcoastjustin) Greetings all,

This is Justin, currently living in San Jose, CA. Most of my favorite books and authors were things I randomly stumbled upon while lost in a good bookstore.....David Foster Wallace, Colin Thubron, more recently Ben E. Winters, David Rakoff, etc etc etc.

Ah, the glory days when I used to walk over to Powell's City of Books after work! I am grateful for services like Amazon when I'm looking for obscure titles that nobody seems to carry, but there's no comparison to just blocking off an entire afternoon -- preferably gray and rainy -- and just wandering through the aisles, pulling out what looks interesting and often having an interesting chat on your way up to the register.

Mara (maraanne) | 3 comments Hi Justin! You used to live within walking distance of Powell's?! The envy I feel is incredibly real, man. ;)

Left Coast Justin (leftcoastjustin) Hello Mara,

Actually, I was living in California but flying up to Portland every week and staying in a hotel in the Pearl district. Separation from home and family can be tough, but having Powell's a few blocks away was pretty good compensation :)
