Sarah (sarahlittlecornerforbooks) Have you ever quit a book? Has it been too boring for you continue? Or do you continue anyway?

Sarah (reads4fun730) | 718 comments Yes!! I am definitely a book quitter. The last book I quit was Hush Hush.

message 3: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 89 comments I have actually quit on a book. I quit reading Anna Karenina because in the edition that I read it told what the outcome was of the main character in the introduction and I was just getting bored.
Other times I have put a book down and then picked it up again when I feel like continuing to read it. It took me four months to finally finish Fire.

Aisha (aisha_i) I never used to give up on books. But I feel like I've been doing that a lot lately. I think I'm going through a reading slump

Yeah I'm a bit of a book quitter these days. I don't have time anymore to suffer through a bad book! DNF Rebel, Poison Princess, Crescendo, and many more

it depends.
if am reading a book and if am not waitin for another book in the mail or from the library, I might read the whole book.but if not,I will probably quit it.

Aisha (aisha_i) * I completely agree with u Rachel

message 8: by Riya (new)

Riya I'm definitely not a book quitter, but I do on occasion (maybe like 3 books or something!)

I've turned into a bit of a book quitter. I DO plan on coming back to them tho...

I'm just so busy these days with school and extracurriculars, reading is valuable precious time to spare!! I don't want to waste it on a bad book :D

chinami | 114 comments i quit sometimes too? if book is bad and irredeemable i quit. for ex Swoon (Swoon, #1) by Nina Malkin

message 11: by Princess (new)

Princess Godoy (bookishcess) When i really tried to love a book and it's just doesn't workout I decided to quit on it and try to re-read it some other time, but if it failed the second time around. I will totally give up on it

message 12: by Jessica (new)

Jessica I'm a bookquitter. If the first couple of chapters or boring, I'll go to the end of the book to see what the ending is...if I don't like I'll quit it.

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 354 comments I very rarely quit mid-book. Thanks to the House of Night series, though, I am a pretty frequent series quitter, though. I read, like, 4 of those and had to just stop.

So I'll usually finish a book and then, if it's a part of a series, decide based on the entire book whether to keep going or not.

That last book I quit was City of Bones. I can't remember the last one before that, but I'm sure one exists.

Theodosia of the Fathomless Hall (taelianaofthewind) | 30 comments Nah. Even if it's to eventually complain about them, I read books 'til the finish unless a:) I am deeply disgusted with it, b:) have to take it back c:) I consider too vapid/vacuous/silly/inane.

Tess, good point!

message 16: by Kaylee (new)

Kaylee (ineffablekay) I quit books because I know I won't want to start another one until it's finished but it takes me forever to read a book I'm not really into. If I can't find something to keep me reading after I'm halfway through, I'll quit it.

I used to hate quitting but it's gotten a lot easier for me to quit now that I almost exclusively get books from the library first unless I'm really sure I'll like it. if I buy I a book I'll probably read it the whole way through even if I don't like it.

georgia (goodreadscomgeorgia_hermione) I put down the fifth wave and I'm not sure about carrying it on

†Reviews of a FearStreetZombie† (fearstreetzombie) I honestly try to finish a book. I really do.
But sometimes I think it would be funner digging my guts out with a spork.

message 19: by Tayla (new)

Tayla Potayta (taylapotayta) I usually try as hard as I can, but if I just have no idea whats going on i stop like A Game of Thrones. 33% and I had no idea what was going on. May start it again.

Then there was A Clockwork Orange . I got like 80% and I just couldnt do it anymore

last one I have done this to was The Help. First page and I put it down.

Aliza (alizaf) | 301 comments i hate quitting in the middle of a book but sometimes i just remind myself that instead of forcing myself to read a book i don't enjoy i could be enjoying a different book.

My philosophy as well. When I accept that a book isn't for me, I think if anyone I know might like it and try to pass it along. I don't feel bad for abandoning it, but I still want it to find the right reader haha.
