Christine H | 496 comments David Wong is the pseudonym of Jason Pargin. He writes for Cracked, and produced the memorable (and hilarious. and disturbing) absurd horror/sci-fi(?) story John Dies at the End. I'm reading his new one, Futuristic Violence and Fancy Suits for this prompt.

message 52: by Pioup (new)

Pioup | 54 comments Gail Carriger is apparently a pseudonym too, in case she's on you're TBR (I might do one of her novellas, but I haven't decided yet).

message 53: by Johanna (new)

Johanna Ellwood (jpellwood) | 236 comments One of my favorite authors is Sophie Kinsella, author of the Shopaholic series. She also writes as Madeleine Wickham. I will definitely be reading one of those.

message 54: by Kristen (new)

Kristen (kesall) | 2 comments Stephen King used to publish some books as Richard Bachman.

I've chosen Rage by him for this challenge!

message 56: by Nora Charles (new)

Nora Charles (bornrich) Iceberg Slim

Someone I admire greatly wrote her dissertation on pimp-authored literature. I gag, but now is as good a time as any to get this out of the way.

message 57: by Tara (new)

Tara Bates | 1008 comments For anyone doing it with kids, you could use an RL Stein book. He wrote several joke books as Jovial Bob Stein, and it doesn't specify you have to read a book that they're writing under a pseudonym just that they do. Therefore the Harry Potter books would also apply since she writes under Robert Galbraith as well.

message 58: by Noina (new)

Noina (noisynoina) I'm reading Career of Evil right now but I'll read it for the disability thing. So I for this prompt I'm going for Elena Ferrante's Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay.

AM (ammo) | 11 comments I am on the fourth and final book, The Story of the Lost Child from Elena Ferrante.

If you are considering reading these - do! You will not regret it.

message 60: by Shelly (new)

Shelly | 123 comments So...maybe I'm late to this party, but I just figured out that Jennifer Ashley (romance,Ashley Gardner (the Captain Lacey Regency Mysteries), and Allyson James (Stormwalker series) are all the same person.

Several of her books are available free on Amazon kindle.

I just finished My Brilliant Friend. It was amazing! Glad to hear the rest of the series is just as good.

I had no idea as well! I also didn't know Anne Rice was, even though I've read most of her books.

message 63: by Sam (new)

Sam Renwick | 0 comments Just finished The Accidental Life of Greg Millar by Aimee Alexander - a great read that was different from my usual genre

message 64: by Theresa (new)

Theresa | 5 comments I'm reading The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August. Wonderful story!

message 65: by Rachel (new)

Rachel A. (abyssallibrarian) | 643 comments I'm reading Feed. I originally planned to read this last year for my 600 page book, but switched it out relatively last minute. I decided I still wanted to give it a chance, so this seemed like a good place to fit it in.

Sarah (is clearing her shelves) (sarahjf1984) I'll be reading Blaze Blaze by Richard Bachman for this prompt. I own a paperback edition of this book, which I got from my library's never-ending sale for $0.50 too many years ago. It's been waiting to be read since then.

message 67: by Georgia (new)

Georgia Burrows I'm reading The Cuckoo's Calling for this and i'm really struggling to get into it! Kind of wish I had pushed aside my Harry Potter love for this prompt

message 68: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 66 comments Somehow didn't realize Cassandra Clare is actually a pseudonym! I just finished reading the second book in the Mortal Instruments series for this task.

message 69: by Badseedgirl (new)

Badseedgirl I read Roadwork by Stephen King writing as Richard Bachman.

message 70: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Dani wrote: "any of the Brontë novels would work for this I think. I think I'm doing Agnes Grey or maybe The Cuckoo's Calling because Rowling is life "

Good idea! I've been meaning to read The Silkworm for some time now.

I have read three of these this month. I also used one of these books for another challenge where I needed a book published outside the 4 major publishing houses. Bonus!

message 73: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) I read When All The Girls Have Gone by Jayne Ann Krentz for this one.

It's her new romantic suspense minus the paranormal elements of her arcane series.

Krentz also writes historical romances under the name of Amanda Quick

message 75: by Emanuel (new)

Emanuel | 253 comments I read O Assobiador.

Heather I read "the girl before". That book actually fits a number of prompts. Two time periods, going to be a movie. Bestsellers from a genre I don't normally read.

message 77: by Johanna (last edited Feb 22, 2017 11:28AM) (new)

Johanna Ellwood (jpellwood) | 236 comments For anyone who is a fan of the "Shopaholic" series - Sophie Kinsella also writes as Madeleine Wickham. Or maybe I have that backwards. LOL!

message 78: by Carrie (new)

Carrie | 71 comments Nora Roberts writes under JD Robb

message 79: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth | 12 comments For this one I read My (Not So) Perfect Life by Sophie Kinsella who also writes under the name Madeleine Wickham. It was a fun read, although it had one major plot flaw that kept me from loving the book.

message 80: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (naustin32) | 31 comments For this prompt I read A Girl Before by J.P. Delaney. I highly recommend it.

message 81: by Elyse (new)

Elyse (winesaboutbooks) I, like many others, will finally embark on the Cormoran Strike train. I will be reading The Cuckoo's Calling.

The Girl Before is also published in 2017! :)

message 84: by Ramona (new)

Ramona Mead (ramonamead) | 24 comments I may re-read Interview with the Vampire for this category. It's one of my favorite books but I haven't read it since I was a teenager. Anne Rice is a pen name, and she has also written as Anne Rampling and A.N. Roquelaure.

Others I'm considering:
Amanda Quick (real name Jayne Ann Krentz)
Cassandra Clare (real name Judith Rumelt)
Pablo Neruda (real name Ricardo Eliecer Neftalí Reyes Basoalto)

message 89: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Presotti | 23 comments I read The Days of Abandonment by Elena Ferrante, and it was a powerful read.

message 90: by Chinook (new)

Chinook | 731 comments I read Lewis Carroll for this but I also read Legend and discovered that it's his pen name. I highly recommend Legend - I'm not normally a high fantasy reader but I loved this.

message 91: by Agnieszka (last edited Sep 25, 2017 08:26AM) (new)

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) Summer Lee pen name for Verna Hargrove's Christian speculative fiction (historical or biblical)
Thomas Locke - Christian fantasy or speculative fiction on the verge of SF - he's better know under T. Davis Bunn or Davis Bunn
Hannah Alexander is an pen name for the husband-and-wife writing team of Mel and Cheryl Hodde
When I remember the other three names I discovered this year I'll add those later as well

message 92: by Nancy (new)
