11: A category from another challenge

A Separate Peace by John Knowles
Which challenge did you pick? What is the category?
Popsugar Reading Challenge 2017, a novel that is set in wartime
Why did you choose this category?
This book is the current selection for a book club, and I needed a way to work it into AtY. I am not doing the Popsugar challenge this year, but I am familiar with it from previous years, so it was the first place I looked.

Falling into Place by Amy Zhang
Which challenge did you pick? What is the category?
I chose a topic from the Popsugar 2017 Challenge - about a difficult topic.

Before Life Happened by Isabel Curtis
Which challenge did you pick? What is the category?
The New Year challenge in the YA Buddy Readers group on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ. The category is New-to-You author.
Why did you choose this category?
I had this on hold for a buddy read a while ago that I didn't end up participating in. It was horrendous so I'm going to get absolutely as much out of it as possible to make up for the complete waste of time it was.

All the Bright Places
Which challenge did you pick? What is the category?
This is based on the Popsugar 2017 Challenge - about a difficult topic. It's also the book I meant to read for week 34 of the 2016 ATY challenge A book about mental illness that I didn't get around to reading last year... mostly because it's such a difficult topic and out of my comfort zone
Why did you choose this category?
Because I've been meaning to read this book for a few years now, but have been avoiding it. I tried to force myself to read it last year, but put it off too long and didn't get it from the library in time. Now that I have it, I have no excuses.

Spell or High Water by Scott Meyer

Seasonal Reading Challenge: Winter 2016: Read another book by an author you read for the first time in 2016

Insomniac City: New York, Oliver, and Me
Which challenge did you pick? What is the category?
Around the Year in 52 Books Challenge from 2016: Category: the highest rated on your TBR
Why did you choose this category?
I've never done a reading challenge, so I looked at last year's challenge which I wasn't a part of to pull in a category for this year. I liked the idea of doing the highest rated on my TBR to push me to read something I've been interested in but haven't gotten to just yet.

I actually finished this last week and just realized I could use it for a category on ATY - Three Nights in August: Strategy, Heartbreak, and Joy Inside the Mind of a Manager by H.G. Bissinger
- Which challenge did you pick? What is the category?
I chose 2017's BookRiot's ReadHarder Challenge which I am also doing this year - the category is the first listed - A Book About Sports
- Why did you choose this category?
To be honest, because I am double dipping both challenges where possible, although there are 52 categories here and only 24 on ReadHarder. This book fulfilled both.

I tend to just go with what fits me at that time, and it so happens that I had to read this for school, and I were a week behind on my challenge so I read this and then later found out that I could see if I could fit it in in the challenge! So I like to think of this as my book for week 2. Let's go week 3, we can do this!

I was reading this book anyway and found the category to fit it. I knew there was a challenge from last year that had a category about mental illness so I went looking to find out which one. Reading back over all the past years' challenges, I wish I'd joined in earlier. This is my first year doing challenges.

Weapons of Math Destruction: How Big Data Increases Inequality and Threatens Democracy by Cathy O'Neil

Which challenge did you pick?
Book Riot's 2017 Read Harder Challenge
What is the category?
Read a nonfiction book about technology.
Why did you choose this category?
I wanted to choose a category from the Book Riot challenge since it's not one that I'm participating in and I didn't want to double up on a challenge category I'm already doing. I wanted to pick the category first & then pick a book to fit it. I planned to choose the first category, a book about sports. But then I have a lot of books out from the library right now, so I decided to see if the book I'm currently reading, Weapons of Math Destruction, fit any of the categories, and it fit this one, so I fit the category to the book.
