THE DEWEY DECIMAL CHALLENGE (non-fiction)
Duration: January 1, 2017 � December 1, 2017

The Dewey Decimal System is the way libraries organize their non-fiction books. It was created in 1876 by Melvil Dewey and has been changed much throughout the years.
The goal of this challenge is to read as many books with different (general) Dewey decimal classes as possible. For the purpose of this challenge, we’ll split the Dewey Decimal System into 100s, for a total of 10 larger categories. In keeping with our Around the World theme, let's travel through books! Set a goal for the number of miles or kilometers you plan to travel. With every book you read, choose the setting (or settings) and calculate how many miles there are between that point and the previous point.

Our April Theme is World Religions. This challenge is designed to explore some of the religions you have questions about. Here are some suggestions on how to pick out the books to read:

1. Pick a book regarding any of the major religions of the world (e.g. Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism.)
2. Choose a book about another religion not mentioned above.
3. Read a book about someone practicing their religion.
4. Read a book that deals with what happens in the afterlife according to a religion.
