2016 was my most successful TBR clearing yet. However, I still have over 2000 TBR books waiting between physical and kindle mediums.
I suppose my only downfall is that I don't pick small books. The three volume set of Arabian nights will be my first attempt for 2017. I also use goodreads to track books I read and enjoy with my children. I won't be including those in this challenge.
Giddy up.

Welcome, Steven! Good luck with all those big books! Hope to see you atop Olympus when I get there!

An outstanding book clearly ahead of its time. It espouses the use of pull based platforms rather than push based ones and speaks of challenges that would face individuals, companies and societies who did not adjust.
While not prophetic, the book presents a concise understanding of how platforms and networks work to tame the increasing pace of change and complexity in the modern world.

Another outstanding book to start off the new year. This drives deep into the religion and science border I am so enthralled with these days.
Beyond that it deals with modern spirituality and the human condition with guest stars from a variety of disciplines. I will be reading this again.

****
A classic in its own right. This book has influenced so many generations of intellectuals and speaks to the relationship between man, nature, science and religion.
Of note is the trends of minimalism, and abolitionist thinking which were fundamental in the pages of history at different eras.
It had to resort to Wikipedia biographies of both authors to satisfy a curiosity these two select works didn't satisfy.

***
Great concept, love the author. The oversimplification took a lot away from this novel book.m I get the concept of explain it to me like I am five, but calling oil fire water just over complicated things when combustion engines were introduced.

****
A real gem, far outdid my expectations. A refreshing primer on net neutrality, copy-write law, and art/commerce duality.

****
The concept was delivered really well, however, it felt a bit to rushed. This is one of the few cases where I enjoyed the movie more than the book. Still worth a read.

How are you managing on your climb?

How are you managing on your climb?"
I'm working on #8 at the moment. It's a cozy mystery and ought to be quick--but it's kindof dragging.

I'm behind on so many classics, and I find now that I'm well past my degree-earning years (sigh), I have less patience with them! But I need to fill a few holes, and you just reminded me that I have yet to read Great Gatsby, and by God I'm going to read that this year.

How are you managing on your climb?"
I've been fortunate this year. I've had some good picks from my shelf, but I assume i'll run into one of those dragging novels sooner or later. I'm looking at you "Go Set a Watchman". :(

Some classics flow a lot better than others. There is something about a Russian novel that compares to a Spartan race.....

****
It's a classic for a reason. Utter nonsense, yet, wonderful imaginative narratives.

****
I prefer the first novel, although some major characters in this made this book much better then it was.
Love Alice in Wonderland. And I see you've finished A Wrinkle in Time as well. It's been ages since read that--but I adored it when I was in junior high.

I expected this book to m mediocre, but it was actually fairly endearing. It has skin deep character development, but the medium suits its story.

****
An outstanding book. I did not go into this expecting the richness of the story and the subtleties of its metaphors.

***
I had higher hopes for this one, but it was disjointed and lacked the punch to drive home the main premise. A decent read, but could use a major edit from the author.

****
A book from my favorite author about another favorite author. Loved it.

****
I'm new to Dahl, but as a Dad with small children, it's never too late to enjoy some of the great children's works. Good book!

It will be a real challenge to hit 150, but i'm going for it.

I wonder who our third guest will be?"
Won't be me :( I'm reading my TBR mountain in order I acquired them, and lately all the books have either been ginormous (currently reading a 600 pager) or else nonfiction that's a little dense (i.e. The Hot-Blooded Dinosaurs) so I'm climbing slow & probably won't make even Mt. Everest.
